Impact Lagesson hasn't done much this season, but this was a rare good outing for him. The defenseman has seven points and a plus-15 rating over 12 contests, though that's not all that impressive considering how strong the Griffins' offense has been so far. Lagesson isn't imminently pushing for a call-up, but he could be a replacement if Erik Gustafsson isn't needed on the NHL roster.

Impact Lagesson had an assist in seven games with Detroit as well as three goals and nine points across 23 outings with AHL Grand Rapids during the 2024-25 regular season. The 29-year-old is expected to rejoin the Griffins if he clears waivers, but he might get another chance with Detroit at some point during the 2025-26 campaign.

Re-ups with club Lagesson agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension with Detroit on Friday.

Impact Lagesson saw action in just seven NHL games last year in which he generated one assist while averaging 14:34 of ice time. In the minors, the 29-year-old defenseman wasn't significantly more productive, generating just nine goals in 23 outings. Even with a new deal in hand, Lagesson probably shouldn't be expected to offer much in the way of offensive upside, limiting him to mid-range fantasy value at best.

Draws in, earns assist Lagesson logged an assist and two hits in Friday's 4-3 overtime win over the Lightning.

Impact The Red Wings sat Jeff Petry in the second half of a back-to-back, allowing Lagesson to make just his third appearance since the start of January. The helper was Lagesson's first point at the NHL level this season, as he's mostly serve as a healthy scratch. He's added four shots on net, five hits, six blocked shots and a minus-2 rating over five appearances. Lagesson will be a free agent this offseason and may have to take a two-way contract to stay in North America.

Impact Lagesson has made two appearances this season, both in December. The Red Wings seem content to run with the same six blueliners each game, as Lagesson has not mounted a challenge to Justin Holl, Albert Johansson or Erik Gustafsson for playing time since the calendar flipped to January. At this rate, it will likely take an injury or two for Lagesson to get a look in the lineup.
