Physical in opener Cuylle had one shot on goal and a team-high four hits in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Sabres.

Impact Cuylle made the team with a strong training camp that featured a mix of scoring and physicality from the 21-year-old winger. He skated on the third line alongside Vincent Trocheck and Blake Wheeler, but due to a lack of ice time on special teams, Cuylle finished tied for last among the Rangers with 12:34 TOI.

Back in AHL Cuylle was reassigned to AHL Hartford on Thursday, Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports.

Impact Cuylle played two games this week and was in a fight Monday versus Mackenzie Weeger of the Flames. Cuylle has no points in four NHL games this season with eight hits, 10 PIM and no shots on goal.

Recalled from Hartford Cuylle was recalled from AHL Hartford on Sunday.

Impact Cuylle, who was sent down before the All-Star break, should compete for a bottom-six role with Sammy Blais, who was also recalled from a conditioning stint with Hartford. Cuylle logged seven hits and a fighting major in his first two NHL contests. The 21-year-old winger had 14 goals and seven assists through 42 AHL contests.
