Flyers: Tyson Foerster will miss 5 months after arm surgery
Operation was Monday

DELCOTIMES.COM
Expected to miss five months
The Flyers announced Wednesday that Foerster underwent successful surgery on his arm Monday and is expected to miss approximately five months.
Impact
Foerster was diagnosed with an upper-body injury in early December, and he initially had a return timetable of 2-3 months when he was placed on injured reserve. However, he's slated to miss the remainder of the regular season following his surgery, and it's unclear whether he'd be able to return for a potential playoff run. Over 21 appearances to begin the regular season, Foerster recorded 10 goals, three assists, 20 hits, 18 blocked shots and 18 PIM while averaging 17:27 of ice time.

On injured reserve
Foerster (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Wednesday.
Impact
The Flyers announced Tuesday that Foerster is expected to miss the next 2-3 months, so his placement on injured reserve isn't surprising. He has 10 goals and 13 points in 21 outings this season. Matvei Michkov should see an increase in his workload due to Foerster's absence.

Set to miss substantial time
Foerster (upper body) is expected to be out for at least two months, Kevin Kurz of The Athletic reports.
Impact
The update on Foerster's status was provided to Kurz from a team source of the Flyers. More details regarding Foerster's injury may be revealed if the team decides to announce what the results of the winger's MRI are. The 23-year-old is now slated to be out until at least early February, though that could be longer if the club decides to hold him out through the Olympic break.

Undergoes MRI
Foerster (upper body) had an MRI on Tuesday, though the team hasn't released any details regarding his injury, Kevin Kurz of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Foerster was forced to exit Monday's matchup with the Penguins after suffering his upper-body injury. Since returning from a previous four-game absence in early November, the 23-year-old winger scored six goals in 10 games, including one with the man advantage. If Foerster does miss any time, it would likely open up a spot in the top six for Matvei Michkov. While not officially ruled out, it seems unlikely Foerster will suit up versus the Sabres on Wednesday.

Injured on shot attempt Monday
Foerster sustained an upper-body injury during Monday's home game versus the Penguins and will not return.
Impact
Foerster was hurt on a one-timer attempt in the middle frame and skated to the bench holding his right shoulder, according to Will James of Philly Hockey Now. It was a non-contact injury, so fantasy managers should brace for the worst with respect to Foerster's outlook going forward, at least in the short term. If Foerster is forced to miss any additional time going forward, Matvei Michkov could move up to a top-six role, while Nicolas Deslauriers would be a candidate to rejoin the lineup. The Flyers could also roll with 11 forwards and seven blueliners, which would see Egor Zamula get some playing time.

Continues strong stretch of play
Foerster scored a goal with his lone shot of the game in Friday's 4-3 shootout win over the Islanders.
Impact
Foerster has found the back of the net in four of the Flyers' last five games, tallying five goals on 11 shots over that span. With 12 points across 19 regular-season contests to date, Foerster seems to be on pace to hover around the 45-point mark. For what it's worth, he posted 43 points in 81 regular-season appearances in 2024-25.

Provides late go-ahead goal
Foerster scored a goal and blocked three shots in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Panthers.
Impact
Foerster's picked up four goals over his last four games, and his latest tally was a clutch one. He scored with 46 seconds left in the third period, giving the Flyers their first lead of the contest, and his goal stood as the game-winner. On the year, the 23-year-old winger has eight goals, including two game-winners, three assists, 36 shots, 17 hits, 15 blocked shots, 16 PIM and a plus-6 rating through 18 appearances.
