1 HOUR AGO • Associated Press

Lands long-term extension Luneau agreed to a six-year, $43.2 million contract extension with the Ducks on Thursday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Impact Luneau has made just 14 regular-season appearances at the NHL level, recording two goals, two assists, 15 hits, 14 blocked shots and six PIM while averaging 16:51 of ice time. He spent most of last year at AHL San Diego, where he generated 10 goals, 31 assists and 29 PIM across 70 regular-season appearances. The 22-year-old should see a more regular role with Anaheim during the 2026-27 campaign and will have long-term stability with the organization.

Promoted Wednesday Luneau was summoned from AHL San Diego on Wednesday.

Impact Luneau was sent to the minors Tuesday in what might have been simply a paper move. The 22-year-old blueliner had 10 goals and 41 points in 70 AHL regular-season appearances with San Diego in 2025-26. Luneau might play against Vegas on Friday as part of Anaheim's third pairing.

Sent to AHL Luneau was assigned to AHL San Diego on Tuesday.

Impact The Ducks recalled forward Cruz Lucius from the minors in a corresponding move. It wouldn't be surprising if the team change for both players is temporary. Assuming Drew Helleson (lower body) is ready for Friday's season opener against Vegas. Anaheim still needs at least one more healthy blueliner because Ian Moore's (lower body) is unavailable.

Impact Luneau joined the Ducks for their season finale Thursday, and he scored a goal on two shots en route to a 5-4 victory over Nashville. The 22-year-old defenseman also recorded 10 goals and 41 points in 69 appearances with San Diego during the 2025-26 regular season.

Nets tying goal Thursday Luneau scored a goal on two shots and went plus-2 in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Predators.

Impact Luneau made his first NHL appearance of the season in the regular-season finale. The 22-year-old defenseman picked up his first point for the Ducks since the 2023-24 campaign. He's still young enough to be a prospect, but he's been passed by some other blueliners during his development. Luneau will likely head back to AHL San Diego for the Gulls' playoff run, but considering they barely made the postseason, it wouldn't be shocking to see Luneau recalled again with the Black Aces soon.

Called up by Anaheim Luneau was recalled from AHL San Diego on Wednesday.

Impact Luneau made 13 regular-season NHL appearances for the Ducks between the 2023-24 and 2024-25 campaigns, but he was sent to the minors before the start of the 2025-26 season and hasn't been called up before Wednesday. Luneau will be an option for Thursday's regular-season finale against Nashville if the Ducks intend to rest some of their key contributors ahead of the playoffs.

Shipped to AHL Luneau was reassigned to AHL San Diego on Thursday.

Impact Luneau looks to have missed out on making the roster as a seventh defenseman. The talented 21-year-old blueliner will look to continue refining his game in the minors in hopes of a call-up during the 2025-26 season.

OCTOBER 2, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Strong showing with Gulls Luneau has earned 26 points over 31 appearances with AHL San Diego this season.

Impact Luneau has seen a total of 13 NHL games over the last two seasons, earning three points. He lost most of 2023-24 due to an infection in his knee, but he's come back strong in 2024-25. He also has a minus-9 rating, but that is due to the Gulls being one of the worst teams in the AHL. Despite their struggles overall, Luneau has adjusted to the professional ranks pretty well. The one concern is that he's been jumped in the developmental pipeline by players like Drew Helleson and Olen Zellweger, which could make cracking the Ducks' NHL roster difficult in the near future. Still, Luneau is just 21 years old and has time to round out his all-around game.

Heads to AHL Luneau was reassigned by the Ducks on Friday.

Impact Luneau has no points, two PIM, six shots, five hits and nine blocks while averaging 16:33 of ice time across six appearances this year. He's been a healthy scratch in four of Anaheim's past five games, and a move to AHL San Diego would give the 20-year-old an opportunity to play regularly, which would likely be beneficial to his development.

Set for Rookie Faceoff Luneau (knee) is expected to participate in the Rookie Faceoff from Sept. 12-16.

Impact Luneau had one goal and two assists in seven regular-season appearances with the Ducks in 2023-24. However, he didn't return to the ice after being diagnosed with a knee infection shortly after being loaned to Canada for the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship. Luneau will get a chance to get back on track in the Rookie Faceoff before attending training camp with the Ducks. He could start the 2024-25 campaign with AHL San Diego if he doesn't land a spot on the NHL roster.

SEPTEMBER 3, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Likely done for season Luneau (illness) will likely not play again during 2023-24, Patrick Present of The Hockey News reports.

Impact Luneau was forced to miss the World Junior Championship due to a viral infection, and the recovery from that has kept him out of QMJHL Gatineau's lineup ever since. The Ducks are more interested in getting the 20-year-old defenseman to 100 percent for 2024-25, so shutting him down makes sense. He'll likely have a good chance to make the Ducks' roster out of training camp in the fall after logging three points over seven NHL appearances this season.

FEBRUARY 18, 2024 • ROTOWIRE

Won't play in WJC Luneau, who was loaned from Anaheim to Team Canada on Dec. 9, will not play in the World Junior Championship because of a viral infection. Mark Masters of TSN reports Saturday.

Impact Luneau had a goal and three points in seven contests with Anaheim this season. Missing out on the tournament will cost the 19-year-old an opportunity to play a lead role against some of the best prospects in the world. Luneau might return to the Ducks, but because Anaheim was using him sparingly, it's also possible he'll be reassigned to QMJHL Gatineau where he'd log big minutes.

DECEMBER 23, 2023 • ROTOWIRE

Will report to Team Canada for WJC Luneau was loaned from Anaheim to Team Canada for the upcoming World Junior Championship, per Derek Lee of The Sporting Tribune.

Impact Luneau has a goal and three points in seven contests with Anaheim in 2023-24. He'll likely earn a major role with Team Canada for the highly competitive tournament, which should prove to be beneficial to the 19-year-old's long-term development. Anaheim was using Luneau somewhat sparingly, so it remains to be seen if he'll return to the Ducks after the tournament or report to QMJHL Gatineau.

Checks off multiple milestones Luneau scored a goal on four shots, added an assist and went plus-2 in Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Capitals.

Impact Luneau recorded his first goal and multi-point effort in Thursday's defeat. He tallied at 1:49 of the first period and helped out on a Brock McGinn marker in the third. The 19-year-old Luneau has three points, seven shots on net, four hits, three blocked shots and a plus-2 rating through five appearances this season. He's often been paired with Cam Fowler when in the lineup, though Luneau will still need to stay out of the press box to build up enough momentum to help in fantasy.

DECEMBER 1, 2023 • ROTOWIRE

Pockets first helper Luneau notched an assist in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to the Canadiens.

Impact Luneau got into the Ducks' lineup for the first time since Oct. 21. The 19-year-old also earned his first career point, an assist on Mason McTavish's goal 6:00 into the second period. Luneau, a Quebec native, has added three hits, two blocked shots, two shots on net and an even plus-minus rating over three outings. He'll likely continue to compete with Urho Vaakanainen and Jackson LaCombe for playing time.

Luneau had two assists in six AHL games and could be returned to the QMJHL shortly as he has played in only two NHL games this season. The 19-year-old defenseman was outstanding with Gatineau last season, picking up 83 points in 65 games.
