Top goalie in NCAA Augustine was named the Mike Richter Award winner Friday as the top goaltender in the NCAA for the 2025-26 season, Scott Wheeler of The Athletic reports.

Impact Augustine went 24-9-1 with a 2.11 GAA and a .929 save percentage for Michigan State University in his junior year of college. The Spartans fell short of the Frozen Four, and Augustine has already signed his entry-level deal with the Red Wings, which begins in 2026-27. He is closing out this season in the AHL on a tryout deal.

Lands three-year deal Augustine agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract with Detroit on Tuesday.

Impact Augustine will join AHL Grand Rapids on an amateur tryout deal for the rest of this season before his contract kicks in starting with 2026-27. In his junior season with the Spartans, the 21-year-old backstop went 24-9-1 with a .929 save percentage and 2.11 GAA. Selected by the Wings with the 41st overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, Augustine could find himself slowly working his way up the organizational depth chart.

Impact Augustine went 19-7-4 with a .924 save percentage in 30 appearances for the Spartans this year, but will be looking for redemption after Michigan State came up short in the NCAA Men's Ice Hockey tournament. The decision to stay in college makes sense for the young backstop considering both Petr Mrazek (head) and Cam Talbot are signed for the 2025-26 campaign. Still, Augustine should be in the mix for the future starting gig in Detroit.
