ImpactMcCabe has only four assists in 17 games this season, but three of those have come in his last three games. We're not convinced this will last -- his best offensive season came last year when he put up a combined 25 points (three goals, 22 assists) between Chicago and Toronto. McCabe was brought into Toronto for his edge and grit, not his offense. There's no need to roster him at this time.

ImpactHe beat a screened Anton Forsberg with a wrister from the top of the left circle to make it 4-2 at 13:03 of the third. Nylander is back on the scoresheet and back on an offensive run after a three game dry spell. He has a three-game, three-point run on the go. It's modest, but at the same time, Nylander is playing alongside Auston Matthews on line one and that's an absolute license to print money.

Martin Jones - Thrust into duty after injuryJones was thrust into duty Thursday when started Joseph Woll had to be helped off the ice in the third period. He made nine saves in relief.

ImpactIt was his first action as a Leaf. Jones delivered a 27-13-3 record in Seattle last season, but he did it on the back of a 2.99 GAA and .887 save percentage. The Brick Woll is headed for an MRI and some significant time out, so Jones is about to get the test of his career as a platoon-mate with Ilya Samsonov (illness). Snap him up, but use caution. Jones hasn't put up a save percentage over .900 since 2017-18.
