Impact He skated with Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon on the night, and while he was a bit invisible early, Marner came through in open ice in OT with a blocker side shot past Filip Gustavsson that went just inside the post. More remarkably, the crowd in Montreal actually cheered wildly as Marner was named the game's second star. That's a rarity for a guy usually adorned in blue and white.

Easton Cowan - Lengthy point streak ends Cowan's 65-game point streak with OHL London ended in Friday's 3-1 win over Peterborough, Jared Brown of The Hockey News reports.
Impact Cowan's incredible run won't be an official OHL record because it spanned two regular seasons. Still, his remarkable offensive consistency is noteworthy. The 19-year-old forward amassed 41 goals, 106 points and 44 multi-point efforts during that stretch. Cowan has 18 goals and 40 points through 30 games in the 2024-25 campaign. The Maple Leafs chose him with the No. 28 pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.

Impact Ekman-Larsson ended a four-game point drought with the helper. It was his first point in three contests since his injury scare last Saturday versus the Oilers. For the season, the Swedish blueliner has 22 points, 88 shots on net, 64 hits, 44 blocked shots, 40 PIM and a plus-17 rating through 54 appearances. He's on pace for a full-season total similar to the 32 points he put up over 80 regular-season outings in 2023-24 with the Panthers.

Auston Matthews - Four-game, seven-assist streak Matthews picked up an assist in a 2-1 loss to the Canucks on Saturday.
Impact Matthews extended his point streak to four games (seven assists). He has gone six games without a goal, but it's not for a lack of trying. Matthews has rung up 27 shots in those six games. Overall, the superstar has 20 goals, 25 assists and 161 shots in 40 games this season. His shooting percentage remains depressed at 12.4, well below his 15.9 career mark and 18.7 from last season when he popped in 69 goals. Matthews will tickle twine soon enough -- he's too talented for this goalless streak to go much farther.

Morgan Rielly - First goal in 14 games Rielly scored a goal in a 2-1 loss to the Canucks on Saturday.
Impact He scored with six seconds left in the second period, beating a screened Kevin Lankinen from the right dot four seconds after a Leafs' power play expired. It was Rielly's first goal in 14 games, dating back to Jan. 5. Maybe it was the home cooking that inspired him -- he's a Vancouver boy. Whatever it was, it's great to see Rielly get the monkey off his back. His season has been a struggle -- he has just 26 points in 55 contests this season. But the goal pushed his current point streak to four games (one goal, three assists), so maybe this is a sign of good things to come.

Joseph Woll - Tough loss in low-scoring game Woll made 23 saves in a 2-1 loss to Vancouver on Saturday.
Impact Woll had won two straight heading into Saturday. He's 19-11-0 in 29 starts, with a 2.65 GAA and .909 save percentage. Now that Anthony Stolarz has returned from a knee injury, Woll will settle into a more manageable workload. He's talented, but unaccustomed to playing so many contests. Woll is a worthy fantasy play whenever he's in the blue paint.
