While he's been shut down for 2025-26, he was spotted skating with Alexander Romanov and Semyon Valamov on Tuesday morning, which is a big step in his recovery. Engvall will look ahead to next season after missing the entirety of a campaign for the first time in his six-year NHL career.

Likely out for season Engvall (hip) underwent ankle surgery Tuesday and will likely miss the entire 2025-26 campaign, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

Impact Engvall began the year on injured reserve following offseason hip surgery, and he'll likely miss the entirety of the campaign following his ankle procedure. The 29-year-old made 62 regular-season appearances for the Islanders last year and recorded eight goals, seven assists, 47 hits, 16 PIM and 12 blocked shots while averaging 11:49 of ice time.
