Waived by team Tomasino was waived by the Penguins on Tuesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Impact Tomasino has struggled this season, notching just one assist in nine appearances while averaging 12:10 of ice time. Still, the 24-year-old forward notched 11 goals and 12 assists in 50 regular-season games with the Penguins last year and could draw some interest on the waiver wire. Potentially moving Tomasino to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton could be an indication that one of the Pens' injured forwards is ready to return, or it could be a sign somebody else will be coming up from the minors.

Gets on scoresheet Monday Tomasino provided an assist in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Maple Leafs.

Impact Tomasino has filled a part-time role this season, appearing in just six of the Penguins' first 14 games. The 24-year-old forward is unlikely to see much more than middle-six usage and minimal power-play time, though he could have a steadier role during the absences of Justin Brazeau (upper body), Rickard Rakell (hand) and Noel Acciari (upper body). Tomasino has added eight shots on net, eight hits, seven blocked shots and a minus-1 rating so far this year.

Impact Tomasino will stick with the Penguins after joining the club via a trade from Nashville last year. In his 50 regular-season outings with Pittsburgh, the 23-year-old natural center generated 11 goals and 12 helpers, including eight power-play points. While listed as a center, Tomasino could be in line to play on the wing alongside Evgeni Malkin this year and should secure minutes with the No. 2 power-play group.

Impact Considering the team acquired Tomasino via trade last year, the decision to let him walk is a little strange. In 50 regular-season outings with the Pens, the 23-year-old center put up decent numbers with 11 goals and 12 assists and was often seen as a wing option to play alongside Evgeni Malkin. It's possible the team circles back when free agency opens Tuesday.

The 23-year-old forward ended up with 11 goals, 13 assists, 104 shots on net, 63 hits and a minus-10 rating over 61 appearances between the Penguins and the Predators this season. Tomasino will be a restricted free agent this summer, and assuming the Penguins bring him back, he's a candidate to fill a middle-six role in 2025-26.

Secures helper in return Tomasino put up a power-play assist in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Bruins.

Impact Tomasino returned from a three-game absence due to a concussion. He's on the fourth line at even strength for now, but a power-play role will give him a little more scoring potential. The 23-year-old has 22 points, 101 shots on net, 61 hits and a minus-12 rating over 60 appearances between the Penguins and the Predators in 2024-25, his highest point total in three years.

Impact Tomasino missed three straight games because of the concussion. He has 10 goals and 21 points in 59 appearances between Nashville and Pittsburgh in 2024-25. Tomasino is projected to serve on the fourth line alongside Joona Koppanen and Vasily Ponomarev versus the Bruins.

Impact Tomasino was hurt versus Dallas on Apr. 5 and has sat out the last three games. The 23-year-old has 10 goals and 20 points in 48 games with the Penguins after picking up a solitary assist in 11 games with Nashville earlier in the season. Joona Koppanen could be the odd-man out if Tomasino returns.

Impact Tomasino will miss his second straight game against Chicago on Tuesday, and he could be out for the remainder of the season. Following Tuesday's contest, the Penguins have only three games left on the 2024-25 schedule. Tomasino could conclude the year with 10 goals, 21 points, 100 shots on net and 62 hits across 59 appearances between Pittsburgh and Nashville.

Impact Tomasino is still being evaluated and will miss at least one game after logging 7:09 of ice time in Saturday's 5-3 win over Dallas. Since being acquired from Nashville on Nov. 25, he has generated 10 goals, 20 points, 83 shots on net and 52 hits across 48 outings with Pittsburgh. After being recalled from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Sunday, Joona Koppanen will probably replace Tomasino versus the Blackhawks.

Puts up helper in win Tomasino logged an assist, four shots on goal and two PIM in Friday's 6-3 win over the Blue Jackets.

Impact Tomasino set up Evgeni Malkin on the opening tally at 5:28 of the first period. With four points and 12 shots on net over his last four contests, it looks like the 23-year-old is starting to settle in on the Penguins' second line following the team's many moves around the trade deadline. For the season, Tomasino has 10 goals, 11 helpers, 91 shots on net, 55 hits and a minus-6 rating over 53 appearances between the Penguins and the Predators. His 21 points this year are one better than last season, but it's taken him 12 more games to get there.
