Impact Wotherspoon has filled a top-four role to start 2025-26, but this was his first contribution on offense. The 28-year-old has added four shots on net, seven hits, six blocked shots, six PIM and a minus-1 rating while primarily playing alongside Erik Karlsson. Wotherspoon had a total of 15 points over 96 regular-season outings with the Bruins in the previous two campaigns, so he's unlikely to generate enough offense to help in most fantasy formats even if he ends up with a career year.

Signs two-year pact Wotherspoon agreed to terms on a two-year, $2 million contract with the Penguins on Tuesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Impact Wotherspoon provides Pittsburgh with another option on the left side of the defense and comes in very cheap for the rebuilding club. In 55 regular-season games last year, the 27-year-old British Columbia native registered one goal and six helpers while delivering 75 hits. Between the relatively untested Vladislav Kolyachonok and the underwhelming Ryan Graves, Wotherspoon could find himself playing second-pairing minutes alongside Kris Letang (heart) this season.

Impact This helper ended a nine-game skid for Wotherspoon, who added 10 hits, nine blocked shots, seven shots on net and a minus-5 rating in that span. The 27-year-old defenseman has played regularly in the absences of Hampus Lindholm (kneecap) and Charlie McAvoy (shoulder). Wotherspoon is up to seven points, 41 shots on net, 67 hits, 63 blocks and a minus-10 rating across 52 appearances this season.

Hampus Lindholm (kneecap) and Charlie McAvoy (shoulder) are unlikely to return, while Jordan Oesterle was waived and claimed by the Predators and Brandon Carlo was dealt to the Maple Leafs. With three helpers over his last eight games, Wotherspoon has started to make a small impact on offense. He's at just five points, 32 shots on net, 55 hits, 51 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating across 40 appearances. Even with a regular role in the lineup, he's on the third pairing and offers little to appeal to fantasy managers.

Impact Wotherspoon assisted on Jordan Oesterle's tally in the second period. Those two blueliners have largely been in competition with each other for playing time in the absence of Charlie McAvoy (shoulder) but the Bruins are also doing a fair amount of shuffling of their depth players, which could lead to both Wotherspoon and Oesterle being in the lineup on occasion. For the season, Wotherspoon has a modest four points -- including two helpers over the last four games -- with 30 shots on net, 46 hits, 49 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating through 36 appearances.
