Shane Pinto - Dealing with undisclosed injury Pinto (undisclosed) was absent from Senators' practice on Thursday, per Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia.
Impact Pinto's absence is out of the blue, as Thursday's practice was the first one he missed during training camp. He appears to be dealing with an undisclosed injury, which will be closely monitored in the coming days. If the 25-year-old center is out for an extended period of time, the Senators will have a temporary hole in their center depth, as he was solid in the 2025-26 campaign with 23 goals, 46 points, 157 shots on goal, 94 hits and 50 blocked shots across 72 regular-season outings.

Jorian Donovan - Dealing with undisclosed injury Donovan was absent from practice Thursday due to an undisclosed injury, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports.
Impact Donovan was likely a long shot to make the roster even prior to getting hurt, though other injuries on the blue line could have opened the door for him. At this point, the 22-year-old defenseman will likely be sent down to AHL Belleville once given the all-clear to resume playing.

Linus Ullmark - Falters in preseason debut Ullmark stopped 20 of 23 shots in Wednesday's 4-2 preseason loss to the Maple Leafs. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.
Impact Ullmark got the whole game, but the Senators as a whole struggled. The 33-year-old netminder is eligible for one more preseason game, though it's not yet clear if he'll make a start when the Senators have another split-squad set against the Canadiens on Saturday. In any case, expect Ullmark to handle the bulk of the workload in goal in 2026-27.

Impact Merilainen played into the third period, but he was pulled after giving up a sixth goal. He may get one more chance to audition during preseason action, but this wasn't a particularly encouraging effort put forth for a goalie who needed to impress to win a roster spot. Expect Merilainen to start 2026-27 with AHL Belleville.
