Mathieu Joseph lands new contract right after being terminated by St. Louis! From set aside to signed

Agrees to deal Joseph has agreed to a one-year, $900,000 pro-rated contract with the Kings on Friday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

Impact St. Louis placed Joseph on waivers Thursday for the purpose of terminating his contract and once he passed through waivers, he agreed to a deal with the Kings. Joseph had two goals, nine assists, 85 hits and 28 blocked shots over 39 games with the Blues.

Impact It would seem Joseph's cap hit ($2.95 million) was making it hard to find a potential trade partner or a team willing to pick him up off waivers. Assuming he clears, the 29-year-old winger will be free to sign with any NHL team at a lower cost, though he'll need to do it by Friday's trade deadline to be eligible to play in the postseason.
