Enters 2026-27 with lofty expectations Necas enters the 2026-27 campaign with substantial expectations following his career-best season last year, Laura Lambert of SI.com reports.

Impact Necas signed an eight-year, $92 million extension with the Avalanche in October of 2025, and he rewarded the team's commitment by reaching the 100-point threshold for the first time in his career. Across 78 regular-season appearances, the 27-year-old recorded 38 goals and 62 assists to go with 85 hits, 30 PIM and 26 blocked shots. He'll attempt to maintain that production during his second full season in Colorado while continuing to work alongside one of the league's other elite talents in Nathan MacKinnon.

Two clutch assists in win Necas produced two assists, three shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Wild in Game 5.

Impact Necas set up Nathan MacKinnon's goal with 1:23 left in the third period and Brett Kulak's game-winner at 3:52 of overtime. This was Necas' fourth multi-point effort over five contests in the second round -- he totaled a goal and eight assists in the series. Overall, he's earned 11 points, 25 shots, 14 hits and a plus-9 rating across nine playoff outings. Necas has been mostly held to playmaking in the postseason, but after scoring 38 goals in the regular season, he's still a threat to shoot that opponents can't ignore.
