Impact Ferraro has a goal, four shots on net and seven blocks over two games this season. While the Sharks made additions to their blue line in the offseason, Ferraro's defensive skill set will keep him in a top-four role. He's logged 100-plus hits in all six of his NHL campaigns and has added at least 125 blocks in four straight seasons. However, he's topped the 20-point mark just once and will likely struggle to get to that level of offense in 2025-26. Ferraro is in a contract year and could be a trade candidate in the likely event the Sharks aren't in the playoff picture in March.

Scrimmaging Thursday Ferraro (ankle) is playing in Thursday's intersquad scrimmage, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.

Impact Ferraro's injured ankle didn't need offseason surgery, and it appears that he is back to 100 percent ahead of the 2025-26 campaign. During the scrimmage, Ferraro was paired with Timothy Liljegren, which could be a sign that the duo will link up for the upcoming campaign. For his part, Ferraro should be capable of producing between 15-20 points but provides the bulk of his fantasy value in hits and blocks.

Impact Ferraro was injured Wednesday versus the Wild. He had 17 points, 150 hits, 125 blocked shots, 53 PIM and a minus-25 rating as the Sharks' top shutdown defender this season. Avoiding surgery is a positive sign, and he is expected to have a fairly normal offseason after a 4-6 week recovery from the injury. He'll be entering a contract year in 2025-26, so he could end up being a top trade target in the likely event the Sharks are not in playoff contention.
