Former Caps, Wings D-Man Leaves AHL, Signs In Germany Canadian defenseman Madison Bowey, 30, has signed a one-year contract with the Augsburger Panther, the DEL club announced on Friday.

Headed to Germany Bowey inked a one-year contract with Augsburger of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga on Friday, Tony Androckitis of Inside AHL Hockey reports.

Impact Bowey played last season with AHL Cleveland, picking up three goals and 12 assists in 60 regular-season contests. He had a professional tryout during training camp in 2024 with the Rangers, but he was released. The 30-year-old played 158 games at the NHL level in his career, scoring five times while adding 35 assists.

Cut loose from PTO The Rangers released Bowey on Tuesday from his professional tryout agreement.

Impact Bowey will attend training camp with AHL Hartford, and if he impresses, the 29-year-old defender could land a minor-league deal. He has accumulated five goals and 40 points in 158 career NHL appearances.

Impact Bowey figures to be a long shot to actually make the Opening Night roster considering the Rangers have plenty of blue-line depth, including veterans Chad Ruhwedel and Ben Harpur. The 29-year-old Bowey hasn't logged an NHL game since 2021-22, spending all of last season in the KHL, and is more likely to be a candidate for an AHL-only deal with the Hartford Wolf Pack once he's cut from training camp.
