Luke Glendening - NHL News & Rumors

Released from PTO Glendening was released from his professional tryout agreement by the Lightning on Friday.

Impact Glendening signed a professional tryout agreement with Tampa Bay in mid-September but will be let go a week and a half later. The 37-year-old has made at least 70 NHL regular-season appearances in five consecutive seasons and could draw interest form other teams at some point during the 2026-27 campaign.

Returning to Tampa Bay Glendening signed a professional tryout agreement with the Lightning on Wednesday.

Impact Glendening played for the Lightning during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons, but he spent last year with the Devils and Flyers. Across 70 regular-season appearances between New Jersey and Philadelphia last year, he recorded two goals, seven assists, 97 hits, 53 blocked shots and eight PIM while averaging 10:32 of ice time. Glendening hasn't had a significant offensive impact in recent years, but he'll have the opportunity to compete with the Lightning during training camp and could push for a roster spot since Yanni Gourde (hip) and Dominic James (hand) are expected to miss the start of the regular season.

Pots empty-netter in Game 2 win Glendening scored an empty-net goal on two shots, blocked three shots and added two PIM in Monday's 3-0 win over the Penguins in Game 2.

Impact Glendening had gone without a point over his last four games. The 36-year-old forward has the experience and defensive acumen to be a fourth-line mainstay during the playoffs. Over seven previous playoff runs, he's earned 10 points across 50 appearances, so he's unlikely to be a source of steady offense.

Tallies late in loss Glendening scored a goal on two shots in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Red Wings.

Impact Glendening snapped a seven-game point drought with the tally. The 36-year-old forward has established himself as a regular in the Flyers' bottom six, providing defense and grit in that role. He's at five points in 15 contests for Philadelphia and nine points over 67 outings when accounting for his time with the Devils to begin the campaign. He's added 49 shots on net, 95 hits, 52 blocked shots and a minus-9 rating.

Adds helper in return Glendening logged an assist in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Blue Jackets.

Impact Glendening returned from a two-game absence due to a lower-body injury. He has three points over six outings with the Flyers, one short of what he produced in 52 contests for the Devils before he was waived ahead of the trade deadline. Glendening may still be a part-time player for the Flyers, but he's had a better fit with his new team.

MARCH 25 • ROTOWIRE

Poised to play Glendening (lower body) is expected to play against Columbus on Tuesday, according to Kevin Kurz of The Athletic.

Impact Glendening should return to a bottom-six role after sitting out the last two games. Since being claimed off waivers from New Jersey on March 6, he has recorded one goal, one assist, nine shots on net, three blocked shots and 12 hits in five games with the Flyers.

MARCH 24 • ROTOWIRE

GTD against divisional opponent Glendening (lower body) will be a game-time decision for Tuesday's home divisional matchup versus the Blue Jackets, according to Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Impact Glendening hasn't been in the lineup since Wednesday's 3-2 overtime win in Anaheim -- he potted a goal on four shots in that cross-conference matchup. If the 36-year-old forward ends up sitting out Tuesday, his next opportunity to suit up will be against the Blackhawks on Thursday.

Remains out Saturday Glendening (lower body) will miss Saturday's road clash against the Sharks, per Jackie Spiegel of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Impact Glendening will miss his second straight game after sustaining his injury prior to Thursday's game against the Kings. Overall, the 36-year-old center has six points, 39 shots on net, 78 hits and 48 blocked shots across 57 appearances this season. His next chance to return to the Flyers' lineup is Tuesday's home game against the Blue Jackets.

MARCH 21 • ROTOWIRE

Sustains lower-body injury Glendening missed Thursday's game versus the Kings due to a lower-body injury and is considered day-to-day.

Impact Glendening was a late scratch Thursday. The 36-year-old scored Wednesday versus the Ducks but apparently came out of the game a bit worse for wear. It's not yet clear if he'll suit up versus the Sharks on Saturday.

MARCH 20 • ROTOWIRE

Tallies opening goal Glendening scored a goal on four shots and went plus-3 in Wednesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Ducks.

Impact Glendening has two points in five games with the Flyers since he was plucked off waivers from the Devils. The 36-year-old still isn't an everyday option with his new team, but his path to playing time on the fourth line is clearer in Philadelphia. Glendening has a goal, five helpers, 39 shots on net, 78 hits, 48 blocked shots and a minus-10 rating over 57 appearances this season.

Nabs assist for new team Glendening posted an assist, two shots on goal and four hits in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Rangers.

Impact Glendening was claimed off waivers from the Devils on Friday, and this was his second game with the Flyers. The 36-year-old will compete for fourth-line minutes, though it's a less crowded competition than there was in New Jersey. Glendening is not a factor in fantasy -- he has just five helpers with 32 shots on net, 72 hits, 47 blocked shots and a minus-11 rating over 54 contests this season.

MARCH 7 • FLYERSNATION.COM

Claimed off waivers Glendening was claimed off waivers by Philadelphia from New Jersey on Friday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.

Impact Philadelphia dealt Bobby Brink to Minnesota on Friday in exchange for defenseman David Jiricek, so Glendening will replace some of the forward depth the Flyers lost in that trade. However, Glendening shouldn't be counted on to do much, if anything, offensively. The 36-year-old Glendening has four assists, four PIM, 66 hits and 45 blocks in 52 appearances in 2025-26. If Glendening plays for the Flyers, it will probably be as a member of the fourth line.

MARCH 6 • ROTOWIRE

Designated for waivers Glendening was placed on waivers by the Devils on Thursday.

Impact By putting Glendening on waivers, the team will be able to move him down to the minors in the future, assuming he goes unclaimed. The Devils did the same with Evgenii Dadonov and Maxim Tsyplakov, which could be a sign they are finalizing a deal to bring a player or two in via trade. For his part, Glendening has featured in just four of the team's last 14 contests and has gone 11 games without generating a point.

MARCH 5 • ROTOWIRE

No room in lineup Glendening has been a healthy scratch for the last six games after sitting out Wednesday's 4-3 shootout win over the Maple Leafs.

Impact There's no room for Glendening in the lineup, especially after Nick Bjugstad was acquired from the Blues on Feb. 4. Until an injury opens a spot, Glendening will likely remain in the press box. The 36-year-old has just four helpers with 30 shots on net, 66 hits, 45 blocked shots and a minus-11 rating over 52 appearances this season, so his time out of the lineup won't be noticed in fantasy.

MARCH 5 • ROTOWIRE

Pockets helper in win Glendening notched an assist in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Mammoth.

Impact Glendening ended a 28-game point drought by setting up another struggling player, Dougie Hamilton, for a second-period goal. Playing on the fourth line has done nothing to help Glendening's offense -- he has just four assists over 41 appearances this season. He's added 22 shots on net, 57 hits, 35 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating. The 36-year-old's defensive nature and limited usage makes him a non-factor in fantasy.

Stuck in slump Glendening's point drought reached 15 games in Wednesday's 3-0 loss to the Stars.

Impact While none of the Devils had a particularly good game Wednesday, Glendening's gone over a month now without a point. That's to be expected for a player who sees mostly defensive usage in a fourth-line role. The 36-year-old has three assists, 16 shots on net, 35 hits, 23 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating over 27 appearances this season. Glendening's place in the lineup should remain safe until Jack Hughes (finger) is healthy, which isn't expected to happen until early January.
