Lukas Cormier - NHL News & Rumors

Lands on IR Cormier (undisclosed) will begin the 2026-27 regular season on injured reserve, per SinBin.vegas.

Impact Cormier was a limited participant throughout Golden Knights' training camp before he ultimately appeared on injured reserve Tuesday. The 24-year-old blueliner wore a red non-contact jersey when he did skate, and his placement on IR will place him out of action for at least the next seven days. He was highly effective with AHL Henderson in 2025-26, where he compiled eight goals and 47 points across 49 regular-season games. He should be involved with the Silver Knights in a similar role once he's healthy this season.

Impact Cormier underwent an undisclosed procedure in the 2025-26 offseason and will wear a red non-contact jersey to start Vegas' training camp. The 24-year-old blueliner had a productive year with AHL Henderson last season, where he compiled eight goals, 39 assists and 121 shots on net across 49 regular-season outings. While he appears to be an outside shot to make the Golden Knights' roster, he'll battle in training camp while looking to recover from his surgery simultaneously.

Inks one-year deal Cormier signed a one-year contract with the Golden Knights on Monday.

Impact Cormier earned his newest contract after the strongest offensive campaign of his AHL career. Across 49 regular-season games with AHL Henderson, the 24-year-old blueliner compiled eight goals, 39 assists and 121 shots on net. He produced when it mattered as well, adding five points in six postseason appearances. White he's yet to play regular minutes at the NHL level, he'll return to Vegas' system as one of the top defensive options to be called up if the Golden Knights run into injury problems. He has one assist over two career NHL games, which came back in 2023-24.

Impact Cormier is now a point away from matching his career high from his rookie year (2022-23). He's been great for Henderson lately with two goals and 12 assists over his last 12 contests, getting on the scoresheet in 11 of those games. Impact Cormier is up to four goals and 13 assists over 18 games this season, though he's picked up the pace with a goal and seven helpers over his last six outings. The defenseman's strong play comes at a good time, as the Golden Knights have just six healthy blueliners on the NHL roster. They start a road trip Friday, and they may be interested in calling up a defenseman, likely Cormier or Dylan Coghlan, to provide emergency depth if Jeremy Lauzon (undisclosed) remains out.

Racks up three points Cormier scored a goal on two shots and added two assists in AHL Henderson's 5-2 win over San Diego on Saturday.

Impact Cormier has four points in six games after this big performance. The 23-year-old blueliner didn't get the call-up when Noah Hanifin (lower body) landed on injured reserve, likely because he wouldn't have been guaranteed ice time in the NHL. Expect Cormier to spend most of 2025-26 in the AHL as the Golden Knights look for him to improve on the nine assists he had in 19 regular-season outings last year. He missed most of that campaign due to an undisclosed injury.
