Clutches up for first goal Cagnoni scored a goal on three shots, added a power-play assist and blocked three shots in Thursday's 4-3 overtime win over the Panthers.
Impact Cagnoni impressed in training camp, earning a spot on the Opening Night roster. That worked out well, as the 21-year-old ended up scoring the game-winner in overtime for his first career goal. Cagnoni got top billing on the power play, but he's not a lock to stay in that spot -- or in the lineup -- with Sam Dickinson also on the roster. Still, Cagnoni is worth keeping an eye on, as the power-play usage alone makes him an intriguing blueliner for fantasy purposes.

Impact Cagnoni appears to be the leading contender for a third-pairing role as the Sharks look to round out their depth. Head coach Ryan Warsofsky has been among those impressed by Cagnoni's performance so far. The 21-year-old defenseman will still need to keep his momentum going through preseason games, but he looks likely to start the year in the NHL.

Called up from Barracuda Cagnoni has been recalled by the Sharks from AHL San Jose, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports Sunday.

Cagnoni had two assists in six NHL games last season and absolutely lit up the AHL with 52 points in 64 games.
