Can't get into lineup MacDermid was scratched for the 13th game in a row in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Panthers.

Impact MacDermid has played just once in the calendar year, which came March 5 against the Flames. The 32-year-old has one helper, 33 PIM and 13 hits over 17 appearances while averaging just 3:54 of ice time. It's telling that the converted winger, who used to be a defenseman, hasn't been able to get into the lineup even as the Senators are missing three of their usual blueliners in Thomas Chabot (forearm), Nick Jensen (knee) and Jake Sanderson (upper body), as well as two replacements in Dennis Gilbert (upper body) and Carter Yakemchuk (upper body). MacDermid probably would need the team's forward group to take some hits before he'd draw, though the Senators may simply not trust him to contribute while they're battling for a playoff spot.

Impact MacDermid made a second consecutive start and toiled away on the fourth line. He's been in the active lineup, skating on the fourth line after the Devils suffered injuries to Curtis Lazar (knee) and Nathan Bastian (jaw). Lazar is estimated to return sometime next week while Bastian's injury could sideline him until the end of the month. MacDermid is fond of throwing his body around and could rack up a significant amount of hits in any game in which he's active.

Impact MacDermid will remain with the Devils after joining the club at the trade deadline this last season. The decision to give MacDermid a three-year deal does seem a little surprising when you consider he averaged a meager 4:22 of ice time.
