Headed overseas Hayes signed a one-year contract with AK Bars Kazan of the KHL on Tuesday.

Impact Hayes' time in the NHL has likely come to a close, as he was phased out of the Penguins' lineup in 2025-26, appearing in a career-low 28 regular-season games. Over 805 career regular-season appearances between the Rangers, Flyers, Penguins, Blues and Jets, Hayes delivered 185 goals and 446 points. Impact Hayes has a goal and two assists over his last three outings since he returned to the lineup as a fill-in while the Penguins rest players ahead of the playoffs. That may not be enough to get him a spot in the postseason lineup, but he's a veteran who will be ready to step in at a moment's notice. Hayes has eight points, 45 shots on net, 32 hits and a minus-1 rating through 28 appearances this season.

Hayes has been limited to six points, 41 shots on net, 32 hits and a minus-4 rating over 26 outings this season.

Not playing Sunday Hayes (upper body) won't play against Carolina on Sunday.

Impact Hayes has been day-to-day due to an injury since March 10, but the return of Ville Koivunen to AHL Wilkes-Barre Scranton on Sunday suggests that Hayes could be healthy enough to play. The 33-year-old Hayes isn't a stranger to being a healthy scratch this season, and he has been participating in practices. Pittsburgh also doesn't have any other healthy forward extras on the roster. He has chipped in three goals, five points, 40 shots on net and 32 hits across 25 appearances this campaign.

Still out against Colorado Hayes (upper body) is not in the lineup for Monday's game in Colorado.

Impact Hayes hasn't been in the lineup since March 3 in Boston, and he's appeared in just four of the Penguins' last 30 games. The veteran forward's next chance to get into the lineup will be on the road Wednesday versus the Hurricanes, but he may end up being a healthy scratch once he's given the green light to return to game action.

MARCH 17 • ROTOWIRE

MARCH 14 • ROTOWIRE

Not playing Thursday Hayes (upper body) remains out of the lineup for Thursday's game versus the Golden Knights.

MARCH 13 • ROTOWIRE

Suffers upper-body injury Hayes is day-to-day but will miss Tuesday's clash with the Hurricanes due to an upper-body injury.

Impact Hayes may have faced an uphill battle to get into the lineup even if he was healthy, considering how often he served as a healthy scratch. In his 25 outings this season, the 33-year-old forward has notched three goals and two helpers. With Hayes out, trade acquisition Elmer Soderblom figures to continue featuring in the lineup.

MARCH 10 • ROTOWIRE

Stuck in press box Hayes was scratched for the 14th time in 16 games in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Blackhawks.

Impact Hayes has found himself firmly in the press box in January, and it's unclear what it would take for him to carve out a spot in the lineup. The 33-year-old will be ready on a moment's notice, but the Penguins are working on incorporating more young players in the lineup. Hayes hasn't helped his own cause this season, earning five points, 39 shots on net, 27 hits and a minus-5 rating over 23 appearances.

The center has three goals, two assists, 29 shots on net, 19 hits and a minus-1 rating over 15 appearances. Hayes likely won't see consistent top-six minutes, so his usefulness in fantasy is low.
