Jordan Spence - NHL News & Rumors

Get's first goal of season Spence scored his first goal of the season Thursday in a 6-2 loss to San Jose.

Impact The young defender has just three points, including the one he scored Thursday, in 11 games. Spence has talent, and he's coming off a career year (seven goals, 24 assists; 79 games). The return of Jake Sanderson and Artem Zub from injury Tuesday stabilized the back end of the Sens, so Spence might flourish under a reduced burden.

Back at practice Spence (undisclosed) practiced Friday after missing Wednesday's pair of preseason games versus the Maple Leafs.

Impact Spence should have a chance to play Saturday in one of the Senators' split-squad games versus the Canadiens. The 25-year-old defenseman is expected to be a regular in the lineup in 2026-27 and should also get some power-play time. Ottawa's first regular-season game is Oct. 3 versus the Maple Leafs.

Picks up minor injury Spence is dealing with a minor injury that will sideline him for Wednesday's matchups with Toronto, Claire Hanna of TSN reports.

Impact Spence saw action in 73 regular-season tilts last year in which he set new personal bests in both goals (seven) and points (31) while averaging a career-high 18:44 of ice time. It certainly doesn't sound like the 25-year-old blueliner will miss the season opener against the Maple Leafs on Oct. 3.
