Former Blackhawks Defenseman Placed On Waivers According to PuckPedia, former Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Jordan Oesterle has been placed on waivers by the Nashville Predators.

Waived for reassignment Oesterle was waived by the Predators on Monday, James Mirtle of The Athletic reports.

Impact Oesterle has plenty of NHL experience under his belt (408 games), so it wouldn't be a complete shock to see a team snag him off waivers to serve as a seventh defenseman. Either way, the 33-year-old blueliner shouldn't be expected to be an every-night player at this point in his career, so fantasy players, even in deep formats, will probably want to pursue other options.

Grabbed off waivers Oesterle was claimed off waivers by Nashville from Boston on Thursday, according to Chris Johnston of The Athletic.

Impact Oesterle had a goal and six points in 22 appearances with Boston this season. Nashville has three defensemen on injured reserve -- Roman Josi (upper body), Jeremy Lauzon (lower body) and Adam Wilsby (upper body) -- and traded blueliner Luke Schenn to Pittsburgh on Wednesday, so the Predators needed some extra depth. Oesterle might alternate between being a healthy scratch and serving on the third pairing.

Impact Oesterle is a veteran defenseman, so he can step in at a moment's notice to give another blueliner some rest or to cover for an injury. Steady playing time doesn't look to be in the cards right now -- Oesterle's last appearance was Jan. 28, and Parker Wotherspoon has largely taken over the last spot on defense in the absence of Charlie McAvoy (shoulder). Overall, Oesterle has earned five assists, 19 shots on net, 19 hits and 34 blocked shots over 21 appearances, but he's likely to end the campaign in a part-time role.
