Jiri Patera - NHL News & Rumors

Lands on waivers Patera was placed on waivers by the Bruins on Friday for the purpose of assignment to AHL Providence.

Impact Patera joined the Bruins on a one-year, two-way contract during the offseason and will head to the minors to begin the regular season, assuming he clears waivers. He made 30 regular-season appearances with AHL Abbotsford last year and went 12-14-4 with a 2.63 GAA and .910 save percentage.

Agrees to two-way contract Patera signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Bruins on Wednesday.

Impact Patera has some NHL experience under his belt, but he's spent most of his career in the minors. He went 12-14-4 with a 2.63 GAA and .910 save percentage over 30 regular-season appearances with AHL Abbotsford last year. However, he could compete for the No. 2 role behind Jeremy Swayman with his new team.

Impact Patera improved to 12-14-2 with a 2.63 GAA and a .910 save percentage over 30 outings this season. This was his third career AHL shutout. Patera also made one NHL appearance in 2025-26, allowing seven goals on 40 shots in a loss to the Panthers on Nov. 17.

APRIL 19 • ROTOWIRE

Sent back down Patera was returned to AHL Abbotsford on Saturday.

Impact Kevin Lankinen is set to return from an upper-body injury, which means Patera is no longer needed on the NHL roster. The 27-year-old will likely spend the rest of the campaign with Abbotsford. Patera didn't play during his week-long stint with the big club.

Receives emergency call-up Patera was recalled from AHL Abbotsford under emergency conditions Saturday.

Impact Patera's recall suggests an issue with one of the Canucks' goaltenders. Nikita Tolopilo was confirmed to start Saturday versus the Mammoth, so Kevin Lankinen may be unavailable.

APRIL 4 • ROTOWIRE

Drops to AHL Patera was reassigned to AHL Abbotsford on Wednesday.

Impact Patera spent the Olympic break with the Canucks, but he is no longer needed on the NHL roster with Kevin Lankinen good to go after his time with Team Finland. Patera may get chances to play later in the season if Lankinen or Nikita Tolopilo sustain injuries.

FEBRUARY 26 • ROTOWIRE

Up with big club Patera was recalled from AHL Abbotsford under emergency conditions on Wednesday.

Impact Patera swapped places with Nikita Tolopilo, who will be Abbotsford's primary goalie during the NHL's Olympic break. Patera will likely get some practice time in when the Canucks regroup prior to the end of the break, but he'll probably return to the AHL when games resume.

FEBRUARY 5 • ROTOWIRE

Demoted to AHL Patera was loaned to AHL Abbotsford on Saturday.

Impact Patera sat on the bench for all three games during his recent recall. He has seen action in one NHL game this season, allowing seven goals on 40 shots Nov. 17 in an 8-5 loss in Florida. The Canucks recalled Nikita Tolopilo from Abbotsford in a corresponding move.

Back in NHL Patera was recalled from AHL Abbotsford under emergency conditions Sunday.

Impact Patera will swap places with Nikita Tolopilo, who was sent down to Abbotsford after a poor outing Saturday versus the Oilers. In the NHL this season, Patera has lost his only appearance, allowing seven goals on 40 shots in an 8-5 loss to the Panthers on Nov. 17. He's gone 7-6-2 with a 2.49 GAA and a .915 save percentage over 16 outings in the AHL.

JANUARY 18 • ROTOWIRE

Sent to AHL Patera was assigned to AHL Abbotsford on Thursday.

Impact Patera was called up by Vancouver on Monday, but he didn't make any appearances during his stint with the NHL club. He should see more consistent playing time in the minors, while Nikita Tolopilo was called up Thursday to provide additional depth behind Kevin Lankinen for Vancouver.

Called up Monday Patera was recalled from AHL Abbotsford on Monday, Rick Dhaliwal of CHEK reports.

Impact Patera was sent down by the Canucks on Saturday, but he'll rejoin the NHL club after Nikita Tolopilo left the team since his wife is in labor. Patera will likely serve as Kevin Lankinen's backup while Tolopilo is away from the team.

DECEMBER 1, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Demoted to Abbotsford Patera was reassigned to AHL Abbotsford on Saturday.

Impact Patera was a back up in both games this week. He has made only one appearance at the NHL level this season, and it was not pretty, as he allowed seven goals on 40 shots in an 8-5 loss to Florida. Look for Kevin Lankinen to return to the lineup Saturday after missing a pair of games due to personal reasons.

NOVEMBER 29, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Summoned from Abbotsford Patera was recalled from AHL Abbotsford under emergency conditions Tuesday.

Impact Kevin Lankinen will not travel with the Canucks for their upcoming four-game road trip due to personal reasons, which resulted in Patera being elevated from the minors. The 26-year-old Patera is now the de facto No. 1 netminder, as Thatcher Demko is currently on injured reserve due to a lower-body injury. At this point, Patera seems likely to get the nod for Wednesday's game in Anaheim. The 2017 sixth-round pick allowed seven goals on 40 shots in a loss to Florida on Nov. 17 in his lone appearances with the big club this season.

NOVEMBER 25, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Returned to minors Patera was reassigned to AHL Abbotsford on Monday.

Impact Patera saw action in one game during his November stint with the Canucks, giving up seven goals on 40 shots (.825 save percentage) in a loss to the Panthers on Nov. 17. With Thatcher Demko (lower body) still on the shelf, the Canucks brought up Nikita Tolopilo from the minors in a corresponding move, presumably to serve as the No. 2 behind Kevin Lankinen against the Ducks on Wednesday.

NOVEMBER 24, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Late fade in Florida Patera stopped 33 of 40 shots in Monday's 8-5 loss to the Panthers, with Florida's final goal getting scored into an empty net.

Impact The wild back-and-forth affair saw the Canucks take a 2-0 lead in the first period, fall behind 5-2 midway through the second, then rally to tie it up in the third before the Panthers finally pulled away. Patera didn't give up any egregiously bad goals, but he also showed some nerves at times, which perhaps shouldn't have been surprising considering his first NHL start of the season was coming against the two-time defending Stanley Cup champs. Kevin Lankinen should continue to get most of the work while Thatcher Demko (lower body) is sidelined, but Vancouver has back-to-back sets coming up each of the next two weekends, so Patera figures to get at least a little more action while up with the big club.

Tending twine Monday Patera will defend the road crease against Florida on Monday, Dan Murphy of Sportsnet reports.

Impact The Canucks are playing the second half of a back-to-back set Monday, and Patera will make his season debut as a result after Kevin Lankinen started against the Lightning on Sunday. Patera has made eight NHL appearances for the Golden Knights, going 3-3-1 with a 3.58 GAA and .902 save percentage. The Panthers are scoring just 2.72 goals per game to begin the season, which is tied for the fifth-worst mark in the NHL.

NOVEMBER 17, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Called up from AHL Patera was recalled from AHL Abbotsford on Friday, Rick Dhaliwal of CHEK reports.

Impact There is no word at this time as to whether Thatcher Demko or Kevin Lankinen are injured. Patera was 1-2-1 with a 3.10 GAA and an .894 save percentage in five AHL appearances this season. Patera has played eight NHL games across a pair of seasons with Vegas, posting a 3-3-1 record.
