With the Reign, the 23-year-old forward was significantly more impressive, generating 17 goals and 13 assists in 54 regular-season outings. If he can't find a way to bring that scoring touch to the NHL, Wright may have to spend the bulk of the 2026-27 campaign in the minors.

Impact Wright has 17 goals and 30 points in 54 outings with Ontario in 2025-26. The Kings had a free roster spot after trading Warren Foegele to Ottawa on Thursday in a deal that also included draft picks.

Across 53 appearances with Ontario this year, Wright has recorded 15 goals, 13 assists, 11 PIM and a plus-25 rating.

Wright has just four points over 13 appearances for the Reign, so it looks like it will be a while before he challenges for a call-up to the Kings.

Pens ELC with LA Wright signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Kings on Monday.

Impact Wright's deal will begin next season, but the Kings did not clarify if he will link up with AHL Ontario on an amateur tryout for the rest of 2024-25. The right-shot forward just concluded his third campaign at the University of Denver, contributing nine goals, eight helpers and a plus-17 rating across 44 appearances. The 22-year-old was selected in the sixth round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, and given his minimal production at the collegiate level (54 points across 122 games), his ceiling in the NHL would likely be limited to that of a bottom-six player.
