Impact Thompson had six goals and 25 points in 56 regular-season AHL outings between San Jose and Abbotsford in 2025-26. He began the campaign with the Sharks' minor-league affiliate, but he switched to Abbotsford after Vancouver acquired him March 5 in exchange for Jett Woo. The 24-year-old Thompson also has four goals and 10 points in 34 career regular-season NHL appearances, but he didn't log any games at the top level in 2025-26.

Three points for new AHL team Thompson scored a goal and added two assists in AHL Abbotsford's 4-0 win over Colorado on Saturday.

Impact Thompson has five points over two games since he was swapped to the Canucks' organization for Jett Woo on Thursday. Overall, Thompson has just 17 points over 44 appearances in the AHL this season. The 23-year-old blueliner is still young enough to make an impact, especially for a Vancouver team that is lacking in proven NHL options.

Heads on waivers Thompson (lower body) has been placed on waivers by the Sharks, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Impact Thompson began the season on non-roster injured reserve with a lower-body ailment. That seems to be resolved, so he'll head on waivers and likely be assigned to the AHL if he clears. The 23-year-old did suit up in 31 NHL games last year, putting up 10 points from the blue line in those contests.

Considered day-to-day Thompson was labeled day-to-day due to a lower-body injury, Max Miller of NHL.com reports Tuesday.

Impact The Sharks previously placed Thompson on non-roster, injured reserve without clarifying that the blueliner was dealing with a lower-body injury. With the Ontario native deemed day-to-day, he could still suit up in Thursday's season opener against the Golden Knights.

Dealing with undisclosed injury Thompson was placed on non-roster, injured reserve with an undisclosed injury Tuesday.

Impact Thompson suited up in 31 regular-season games for the Sharks last year in which he notched four goals and six assists, including three power-play points. Once cleared to play, the Ontario native should challenge for a spot on the 23-man roster, though the team might prefer to see him playing every night in the minors instead of spending time in the press box as a healthy scratch.

He also had three goals and 14 points in 27 outings with AHL San Jose during the 2024-25 regular season. Ruled out Monday Thompson (upper body) will be sidelined against Vancouver on Monday, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.

Impact Thompson is currently stuck in a five-game goal drought during which he managed just two helpers, three shots and 15 blocks while averaging 16:40 of ice time. With the Sharks' season ending against Edmonton on Wednesday, there is little reason to rush the 23-year-old defenseman back into the lineup.

Suffers injury in Calgary Thompson suffered an upper-body injury Sunday in a 5-2 loss to the Flames, per Max Miller of NHL.com.

Impact Head coach Ryan Warsofsky did not have a postgame update on the severity of Thompson's injury. Sunday was the first of a back-to-back set for San Jose, so Thompson's availability for Monday's divisional matchup against the Canucks is up in the air. There hasn't been much information with respect to the status of Vincent Desharnais (upper body), so if he and Thompson are unable to suit up Monday, the Sharks will have to bring up a blueliner from AHL San Jose on an emergency basis.

For the season, he's up to 10 points, 40 shots on net, 47 blocks and a minus-7 rating across 29 appearances. Thompson regularly sees power-play time when he's in the lineup, giving him some appeal as a streaming option in deep fantasy formats.

Impact Thompson's return to the NHL saw him get on the scoresheet for the first time since March 3. The 23-year-old is up with the big club due to numerous injuries on defense. He could stick around for a while as well, as Shakir Mukhamadullin (upper body) joined Henry Thrun (upper body), Vincent Desharnais (upper body) and Jimmy Schuldt (undisclosed) in the medical bay. Thompson has provided a little upside with seven points and 35 shots on net over 25 appearances, though he also sports a minus-6 rating.
