Placed on injured reserve Shesterkin (lower body) was designated for injured reserve Tuesday, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports.

Impact Shesterkin's lower-body injury is still being evaluated by the club, but the veteran backstop will miss at least the next three games at minimum. Through the first 34 outings of the year, the Russian netminder is sporting a 17-12-4 record, 2.45 GAA and one shutout. With Shesterkin on the shelf, Jonathan Quick will have to hold down the netminding duties while Spencer Martin or Dylan Garand could be called up from the minors to serve as the No. 2 option.

Per Dan Rosen of NHL.com, Shesterkin was unable to put any weight on his left leg and needed to be helped to the locker room. Jonathan Quick will operate as the No. 1 netminder if Shesterkin is forced to miss additional time. The Rangers' next game is at home Thursday against the Sabres.

Impact Shesterkin is coming off a fantastic performance at the Winter Classic in which he stopped 36 of 37 shots in a win over the Panthers. After a difficult 2024-25 campaign, the Russian backstop is on pace to reach the 30-win mark for the fourth time in the last five years and should make 55 or more starts for the third consecutive campaign.

Concedes once in Winter Classic Shesterkin stopped 36 of 37 shots in Friday's 5-1 win over the Panthers.

Impact Shesterkin bounced back from back-to-back losses against the Islanders and Hurricanes with an outstanding effort against the reigning Stanley Cup champions. Shesterkin's 36 saves were his third-best effort of the season in that regard, and he also extended his streak of games with a save percentage of at least .900 to four contests.
