Placed on waivers Sunday Romanov was placed on waivers by the Blues on Sunday, PuckPedia reports.

Impact Romanov signed a two-year, two-way contract with St. Louis during the offseason and is set to begin the regular season in the minors since the Blues will keep Joel Hofer and Jordan Binnington as their two goaltenders on the roster for the start of the year. The 26-year-old netminder has offered a mixed bag of results in 10 regular-season appearances with the Sharks across 2023 and 2024. He could find his way to the NHL with the Blues if the team opts to trade away Jordan Binnington, who is coming off a down year and was in the heart of trade rumors during last season's trade deadline.

Posts shutout in AHL Romanov recorded a 33-save shutout in AHL Springfield's 2-0 win over Utica on Friday.

Impact Neither team has been all that good to begin this season, and it showed with the low-scoring game. Springfield's struggles have led to Romanov opening the year 1-5-0 with a 3.38 GAA and a .901 save percentage, with Friday's effort being his first win. He signed just before the start of the season after attending the Devils' camp on a professional tryout, so this may have been a modicum of revenge for the 25-year-old goalie to beat New Jersey's farm team.

Impact Romanov attended New Jersey's training camp on a PTO, but he ultimately didn't land a contract with the Devils. Still, the 25-year-old has managed to earn a two-way deal, though Romanov is projected to begin the campaign in the minors. Romanov had a record of 0-6-0 with a 3.88 GAA and an .877 save percentage across eight appearances with the Sharks in 2024-25.

Earns PTO with New Jersey Romanov signed a professional tryout agreement with the Devils on Friday.

Impact Romanov earned no NHL interest during free agency, so he will attempt to earn himself a contract while on a tryout in New Jersey. He saw limited action with the Sharks over the last two years, going 0-6-0 with 28 goals allowed on 249 shots over 10 appearances. With three goalies already on NHL contracts, Romanov doesn't have a good chance of seeing NHL action in 2025-26.

Impact Romanov saw limited playing time with the Sharks over the last two seasons. Over eight appearances last year, he went 0-6-0 with a 3.88 GAA and .877 save percentage, and he'll have to seek out another contract ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

Loses again versus Flames Romanov stopped 25 of 29 shots in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Flames. The fifth goal was an empty-netter.

Impact Romanov is now 0-6-0 through eight outings this season, including two losses to the Flames. The 25-year-old netminder simply hasn't gotten enough goal support -- the Sharks have scored no more than two goals in any of his eight appearances this season. He's added a 3.89 GAA and an .877 save percentage in 2024-25. Romanov is getting a long look late in the campaign, likely to evaluate if he'll be an option to serve as the Sharks' backup next season, potentially behind Yaroslav Askarov should the team let Alexandar Georgiev walk in free agency.

Starting in Calgary Romanov will defend the road net versus the Flames on Sunday, according to Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now.

Impact After nine appearances, including seven this season, Romanov is still seeking his first NHL victory. He has stopped 104 of 114 shots en route to a record of 0-3-0 in April, including a 29-save effort in a 3-2 loss to Calgary on Monday. The Flames sit 30th in the league with 2.61 goals per game in 2024-25.

Takes loss to Oilers Romanov stopped 30 of 33 shots in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Oilers. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.

Impact Romanov's quest for his first win continues, though he did a decent job of keeping this game close. He's allowed just 10 goals over his last four outings (three starts). Romanov is still 0-5-0 on the year with a 3.86 GAA and an .879 save percentage over seven appearances. He'll likely split the next two games with Alexandar Georgiev -- the Sharks wrap up their last road trip of the season with a back-to-back with stops in Calgary on Sunday and Vancouver on Monday.

Gets starting nod Romanov will start Friday's contest at the Oilers, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports via Jason Gregor of Sports 1440.

Impact The task of snapping the Sharks' seven-game losing streak will go to Romanov on Friday. The last three starts for the 25-year-old have been solid - he's allowed seven goals between the three contests with a .914 save percentage. The Oilers present a tough challenge with Connor McDavid back in the lineup, but Edmonton is still without the NHL's leading goal-scorer Leon Draisaitl, perhaps lessening the challenge for Georgiev.

APRIL 11, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Struggles late Monday Romanov made 29 out of 32 saves in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Flames.

Impact Romanov cruised through the first two periods before his play collapsed in the third period. He allowed three goals in a seven-minute stretch which was enough for the Flames to turn the tide and steal the win from San Jose. With the loss, the 25-year-old Romanov has an 0-4-0 record with a 4.01 GAA and an .873 save percentage in six appearances this season. While Romanov should continue to see some action in net with the Sharks eliminated from playoff contention, it is best to fade him in fantasy formats. His next opportunity to guard the crease is Wednesday at Minnesota.

First goalie off Romanov was the first goalie off during Monday's morning skate, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports, indicating that he'll defend the home crease against the Flames.

Impact Romanov was relatively effective in relief against the Kraken on Saturday, turning aside 10 of 11 shots (.909 save percentage). However, he hasn't been particularly sharp since mid-March, going 0-3-0 with a 4.21 GAA and .864 save percentage over five appearances. He'll have a favorable matchup against the Flames, as they're averaging just 2.58 goals per game this season, which is the third-worst mark in the NHL.
