Impact Salomonsson was initially targeting a return to game action around late October, but he could be in the mix to suit up a few weeks earlier than expected. The 22-year-old was skating in a regular sweater early in training camp, and he's expected to join the main group for practice in a non-contact sweater Sunday, per Ken Wiebe of The Winnipeg Free Press.

Targeting return in late October Head coach Scott Arniel said Thursday that Salomonsson (shoulder) is targeting the end of October for a return date, Mitchell Clinton of the Jets' official site reports.

Impact Salomonsson skated in a regular sweater ahead of the Jets' practice session to begin training camp Thursday, but it appears as though he's still in his recovery process after undergoing shoulder surgery in late April. While it appears as though the 22-year-old has made encouraging progress in his recovery, the Jets are indicating that they're preparing to play without him for at least the first few weeks of the regular season.

Resumes skating at training camp Salomonsson (shoulder) was seen skating ahead of Jets' training camp Thursday morning, per Mitchell Clinton of the Jets' official site.

Impact Salomonsson was spotted getting additional work in prior to the official start of camp. Not only is his presence on the ice an encouraging sign for his recovery, but he also wasn't dressed in a non-contact jersey. The 22-year-old blueliner underwent a shoulder procedure following the 2025-26 campaign, where he compiled a goal, five points, 37 shots on net, 50 hits and 27 blocked shots across 32 regular-season games. If he's cleared to fully participate in Winnipeg's training camp, then he'll be in a good position to battle for a roster spot against right-handed defensemen such as Jack St. Ivany and Henry Thrun.

Undergoes shoulder surgery Salomonsson underwent shoulder surgery Thursday and is expected to be out for 5-6 months, per Mitchell Clinton of the Jets' official site.

Impact Salomonsson had a goal and five points in 32 outings with Winnipeg as well as a goal and nine points in 29 appearances with AHL Manitoba in the 2025-26 regular season. He also had an assist in two playoff outings with Manitoba this year. The 21-year-old defenseman might have been in the mix for a 2026-27 Opening Night roster spot with Winnipeg if he had entered training camp healthy. However, Salomonsson is now likely to still be recovering from his surgery when training camp begins, which probably increases the chances of him starting the upcoming campaign in the minors.

Impact Salomonsson was in the concussion protocol, but this move suggests that he's been cleared medically. The 21-year-old had a goal and five points across 32 regular-season outings with Winnipeg in 2025-26.

In concussion protocol Salomonsson is in the concussion protocol after getting hurt on a hit in Thursday's game against the Stars, Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.

Impact Salomonsson was injured on a reverse hit by Jason Robertson. Given the nature of the injury, Salomonsson will have to wait to return to the lineup until he is no longer suffering from concussion symptoms. That puts his availability in doubt for Saturday's game against the Blue Jackets, which opens the door for Ville Heinola or Jacob Bryson to step into the lineup.

He's earned four helpers, 31 hits, 13 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating over 15 appearances in March, offering a little offense to go with emerging defensive stability in a bottom-four role, though he was seeing heavier minutes when the Jets' blue line was banged up. Salomonsson has five points, 36 shots on net, 47 hits, 27 blocked shots and a minus-2 rating over 30 appearances this season.

Impact Injuries to multiple defensemen have left the Jets short thin on the blue line. That will allow Salomonsson to get some on-the-job training as the Jets navigate the last quarter or so of the campaign. His tally at 1:27 of the third period put the Jets ahead 3-1, but it wasn't enough. Through 15 NHL contests, he's posted 21 shots on net, 16 hits, 14 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating in a bottom-four role.
