Impact Salomonsson skated in a regular sweater ahead of the Jets' practice session to begin training camp Thursday, but it appears as though he's still in his recovery process after undergoing shoulder surgery in late April. While it appears as though the 22-year-old has made encouraging progress in his recovery, the Jets are indicating that they're preparing to play without him for at least the first few weeks of the regular season.

Impact Salomonsson was spotted getting additional work in prior to the official start of camp. Not only is his presence on the ice an encouraging sign for his recovery, but he also wasn't dressed in a non-contact jersey. The 22-year-old blueliner underwent a shoulder procedure following the 2025-26 campaign, where he compiled a goal, five points, 37 shots on net, 50 hits and 27 blocked shots across 32 regular-season games. If he's cleared to fully participate in Winnipeg's training camp, then he'll be in a good position to battle for a roster spot against right-handed defensemen such as Jack St. Ivany and Henry Thrun.

He also had an assist in two playoff outings with Manitoba this year. In concussion protocol Salomonsson is in the concussion protocol after getting hurt on a hit in Thursday's game against the Stars, Mike McIntyre of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.

Impact Salomonsson was injured on a reverse hit by Jason Robertson. Given the nature of the injury, Salomonsson will have to wait to return to the lineup until he is no longer suffering from concussion symptoms.
