Simon Edvinsson - Sent back to minors Edvinsson was reassigned to AHL Grand Rapids on Thursday.

Impact Edvinsson's demotion comes as both Jeff Petry and Olli Maatta are expected to return from injury against Nashville on Friday. Barring additional injury concerns on the blue line, Edvinsson figures to spend the rest of the campaign in the minors where he has racked up 16 points in 25 contests.

Michael Hutchinson - On waiver wire Thursday Hutchinson was placed on waivers Thursday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.

Impact Hutchinson played well in his only NHL game, giving up three goals on 36 shots in a 3-2 loss to New Jersey on Saturday. Hutchinson was recalled due to injuries to Ville Husso (lower body) and Alex Lyon (upper body), but with Lyon healthy and starting Friday against Nashville, Hutchinson was made redundant.

Joe Veleno - Not expected back Friday Veleno (undisclosed) is slated to miss out versus Nashville on Friday, Ted Kulfan of The Detroit News reports.

Impact Veleno is currently mired in a seven-game goal drought during which he recorded 13 shots and three assists. For now, David Perron looks set to take on a top-six role but Veleno should be in the mix to reclaim that spot once given the all-clear. Veleno did practice Thursday, which could set him up to return against Boston on Sunday.

Jeff Petry - Expected to return Friday Petry (upper body) should return to the lineup Friday versus Nashville, per Max Bultman of The Athletic.

Impact Petry has been a disappointment offensively this season as he has only one goal and nine assists in 27 games. Petry was not available Wednesday in Minnesota after he was injured versus New Jersey on Saturday in the final game before the Christmas break. Look for Petry to be paired with Ben Chiarot in his return to action.

Olli Maatta - Should play Friday Maatta (upper body) should return to the lineup versus Nashville on Friday, Max Bultman of The Athletic reports.

Impact Maatta has sat out the last two contests after he was injured versus the Flyers on Dec. 22. Maatta has a goal and five assists in 27 games this season.

Alex Lyon - Starting Friday Lyon (upper body) will get the starting nod at home versus the Predators on Friday, Max Bultman of The Athletic reports.

Impact Lyon will make his first appearance in the crease since Dec. 16 against the Flyers when he gave up one goal on 16 shots but still suffered a loss. Ville Husso's (lower body) continued absence could allow Lyon to share the crease with James Reimer, especially after Reimer gave up 17 combined goals in his last three contests.
