Impact Edvinsson will slot into a top-pairing role alongside Moritz Seider following a three-game absence. Friday's game is the first half of a back-to-back for Detroit, so Edvinsson being available against Tampa Bay seemingly indicates he has fully moved past his illness.

Albert Johansson - Slumping on offense Johansson's point drought reached 17 games in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Predators.

Impact Johansson has gone minus-12 in that span as well, so the lack of offense is being compounded by mediocre defensive play. The 24-year-old blueliner is at two assists, 21 shots on net, 24 hits, 30 blocked shots and a minus-9 rating across 24 appearances this season. That kind of production won't make Johansson an option in most fantasy formats, as even his physical play is too lackluster to help in banger leagues.

Ben Chiarot - Tallies in loss Chiarot scored a goal on three shots, added four PIM, doled out six hits and blocked two shots in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Predators.

Impact Chiarot has four points over his last seven games. The 34-year-old blueliner isn't known for his offense, but he has chipped in three goals and four helpers over 24 outings this season, which puts him more than halfway to matching his 13-point total from the 2024-25 campaign. In 2025-26, he's added 26 shots on net, 28 PIM, 57 hits, 49 blocks and a plus-2 rating while seeing time in a top-four role.

James van Riemsdyk - Scores in consecutive games Van Riemsdyk scored a power-play goal on two shots and went minus-3 in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Predators.

Impact Van Riemsdyk has scored in each of the last two games. The winger is getting a look higher in the lineup -- he was listed on the third line Wednesday, and he's also on the second power-play unit. He's been an occasional healthy scratch this year, but he provides a veteran scoring presence in a bottom-six role when he plays. Overall, the 36-year-old has three goals, one assist, 26 shots on net, 11 blocked shots and a minus-7 rating over 19 appearances.

Impact DeBrincat tied the game at 1-1 in the second period with his third goal in as many contests. He's piled up his goals in bunches this season -- he's had three streaks of at least three straight outings with a tally. For the season, the winger is up to 12 goals, 26 points (10 on the power play), 92 shots on net and a minus-3 rating through 24 appearances. He's topped the 40-goal mark twice in his career, and he could do it again in 2025-26 if he continues scoring at this pace.

Cam Talbot - Starting to waver Talbot allowed five goals on 28 shots in Wednesday's 6-3 loss to the Predators. The sixth goal was an empty-netter.

Impact This was Talbot's second loss in a row, and he's allowed 12 goals over his last three outings. He's started five of the last six games, so it's possible he's struggling after sharing the crease with John Gibson for much of the first month of the season. Talbot is down to a 9-4-0 record with a 2.97 GAA and an .887 save percentage over 14 appearances (12 starts). Both Talbot and Gibson should get a start in the next two games, as the Red Wings host the Lightning on Friday before visiting the Bruins on Saturday.

William Lagesson - Racks up three helpers Lagesson logged three assists in AHL Grand Rapids' 6-3 win over Texas on Wednesday.

Impact Lagesson hasn't done much this season, but this was a rare good outing for him. The defenseman has seven points and a plus-15 rating over 12 contests, though that's not all that impressive considering how strong the Griffins' offense has been so far. Lagesson isn't imminently pushing for a call-up, but he could be a replacement if Erik Gustafsson isn't needed on the NHL roster.

Dries last played in the NHL in 2022-23, but he could be a veteran call-up option for a bottom-six spot if the Red Wings need forward depth later in the year.
