Goals in back-to-back games
Perron scored a goal Monday in a 4-3 overtime loss to Tampa Bay.
Impact
Perron has scored in two straight games, but he has just three goals in 15 games since his arrival from Ottawa on March 5. He had previously played in Detroit from 2022-24 and was viewed as a veteran who could help get them to the postseason. The 37-year-old Perron's contract expires at the end of 2025-26. He may still have something in the tank -- he had 25 points in 49 games in Ottawa prior to the deal.

Shipped to Detroit
Perron (groin) was traded to the Red Wings from the Senators on Thursday in exchange for a conditional 2026 fourth-round pick.
Impact
Perron likely would have been squeezed out of the lineup once he recovers from groin surgery, so the Senators were able to find a deal for him. The 37-year-old is six weeks into a 5-7 week recovery timeline, so he could be available fairly soon. Perron figures to be a middle-six option for the Red Wings once healthy. He had 25 points in 49 contests this season prior to his absence.

Set to undergo surgery
Perron is expected to miss 5-7 weeks due to a sports hernia injury that will require surgery, Julian McKenzie of The Athletic reports Thursday.
Impact
Head coach Travis Green said Thursday that Perron's injury has been bothering him for a while, and the 37-year-old will undergo a procedure ahead of the Olympic break. Perron had appeared in each of the Senators' first 49 games of the season, recording 10 goals, 15 assists, 64 hits, 22 PIM and 18 blocked shots while averaging 13:26 of ice time. While he's facing a lengthy recovery process, he could be ready to return around when the Senators resume play in late February.
