Ready for rookie camp Locmelis (shoulder) will be in action at the Bruins' rookie camp, Mark Divver of the New England Hockey Journal reports Monday.

Impact Locmelis saw action in just 43 games for AHL Providence last season in which he generated 15 goals and 13 assists before being sidelined by a shoulder problem. While the 22-year-old center is likely to spend the bulk of the 2026-27 campaign in the minors, he could be a dark horse candidate to make the Bruins' Opening Night roster.

Undergoing surgery Locmelis will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery next week, Mark Divver of the New England Hockey Journal reports.

Impact Locmelis has played through his injury for a while but will now get it addressed. The 22-year-old expects to be ready for training camp in September. He stood out with 28 points in 43 games with AHL Providence this season, as well as two goals in four games with Latvia at the Olympics.

Impact Locmelis has a pair of two-point efforts over his last three games. The Latvian forward has put forth a good performance in his first full AHL campaign, racking up 11 goals and eight assists through 29 contests. The 21-year-old forward probably won't get a call-up this season, as his development will be best suited by another year or two of strong AHL play.

Tallies twice in AHL win Locmelis scored two goals in AHL Providence's 3-2 overtime win over Utica on Saturday.

Impact Locmelis opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal in the first period and netted the game-winner in overtime. This was his first multi-point effort of the season. Locmelis has five goals and three assists over 13 games in 2025-26. The Latvian had 12 points in six AHL regular-season outings at the tail end of last year after signing his entry-level contract -- while his pace is slower this year, he's still showing quite a bit of promise.
