Ends playing career Hagelin announced Wednesday that he will be unable to continue his career due to his eye injury.

Impact Hagelin wasn't able to play in 2022-23. The 35-year-old did manage to log 713 career NHL games though, providing 110 goals and 296 points over his stints with the Rangers, Anaheim, Pittsburgh, LA and Washington. He also had 22 goals and 50 points in 141 career playoff outings and won back-to-back championships with the Penguins in 2016 and 2017.

Still not skating Hagelin (hip/eye) has not resumed skating following hip and eye injuries, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.

Impact Hagelin indicated during his end-of-season press availability that has yet to be cleared to play with his eye injury and has not resumed skating following hip resurfacing surgery but is hopeful to return to action next season. The 34-year-old winger has not played in an NHL game since Feb. 21, 2021, and his prospects for resuming his career, in Washington or elsewhere, remain murky.

Has hip resurfacing surgery Hagelin is out indefinitely after undergoing left hip resurfacing surgery on Monday.

Impact Hagelin also underwent hip surgery Oct. 10 and hasn't played at all this season. While the Capitals didn't provide a timetable for his recovery from the latest procedure on his hip, they did say it would be a "lengthy recovery process." The 34-year-old recorded three goals and 14 points in 53 contests while averaging 14:14 of ice time during the 2021-22 campaign.
