Inks one-year contract Butler signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Red Wings on Wednesday.

Impact Butler had a goal and 20 PIM in 16 outings with AHL Iowa as well as nine goals, 20 points and 77 PIM in 30 appearances with ECHL Iowa in the 2025-26 regular season. The 24-year-old will probably spend most, if not all, of the upcoming campaign in the minors.

Set to test free agency The Wild chose not to give a qualifying offer to Butler on Monday, according to PuckPedia.

Impact Butler is eligible to sign with a new organization when free agency starts Wednesday. The 24-year-old played in both the AHL and ECHL in 2025-26. Butler has played in one NHL game in his career, which came during the 2023-24 campaign with Columbus.
