Impact The fact that Rust has now missed three days for maintenance reasons is now becoming a concern for fantasy players. At this point, the winger shouldn't be expected to suit up in the preseason finale against the Jackets on Friday and is probably questionable heading into Opening Night versus the Rangers on Wednesday. If Rust does miss out, Anthony Beauvillier and Drew O'Connor figure to flank Sidney Crosby on the top line.

Impact Rust almost certainly would have reached the 30-goal threshold were it not for his 20-game absence this season. Looking ahead to next year, the veteran winger should be a lock for a top-six role, which will have him playing alongside either Sidney Crosby or Evgeni Malkin. If he can stay healthy, Rust should finally be able to crest that elusive 30-goal mark.
