Ruled out for Olympics
Point (lower body) has been ruled out of the upcoming Olympics for Team Canada, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports Thursday.
Impact
Point is on long-term injured reserve and hasn't played for the Lightning since Jan. 12 due to his lower-body injury. His status for the Olympics was up in the air, but he'll ultimately be held out and replaced by Seth Jarvis. His next opportunity to suit up for Tampa Bay will be Feb. 25 against Toronto, but it's not yet clear whether he'll be able to do so.

Moves to LTIR
Point (lower body) was transferred to long-term injured reserve Tuesday, per PuckPedia.
Impact
Point last played Jan. 12 versus the Flyers. He is required to be out for 10 games and 24 days. He will complete the first requirement Tuesday versus the Sabres, but he's already been ruled out for the Lightning up to the Olympic break. Point is still a possibility to play for Team Canada at the Olympics, though it remains what the national team is planning to do in regards to his status.

Won't return before break
Point (lower body) will not be back ahead of the Olympic break, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports Tuesday.
Impact
Point was previously deemed week-to-week by the club, so this development shouldn't come as a surprise. The 29-year-old center hasn't been ruled out for the Winter Olympics yet, and may still be an option for Team Canada in its Feb. 12 clash with Czechia.

Officially lands on IR
Point (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Friday, per the NHL media site.
Impact
Point was already deemed week-to-week by the club, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to see him end up on injured reserve. In his last eight games before getting hurt, the Calgary native racked up five goals and six helpers, including a trio of power-play points. With an extended absence, Point could miss the 80-point threshold for the first time since 2021-22.

Deemed week-to-week
Point (lower body) is week-to-week, per Lightning play-by-by announcer Dave Randorf on Tuesday.
Impact
Point sustained the injury in Monday's 5-1 win over Philadelphia. While it isn't a season-ending issue, he will likely be out for a while, and it remains unclear if it will impact his availability for the 2026 Winter Olympics in February. Point has amassed 11 goals, 30 points and 82 shots on net through 37 appearances this season.

Injured in Philadelphia
Point (lower body) has been ruled out for the remainder of Monday's game in Philadelphia.
Impact
Immediately after Point scored a goal on the power play during the middle frame, Cam York fell onto Point's right leg, per Erik Erlendsson of LightningInsider.com. Point wasn't able to leave the ice under his own power and ultimately did not return to the game. The Lightning will play in the second half of a back-to-back Tuesday in Pittsburgh, so given the quick turnaround, Point should not be expected to be available for that matchup. It's a possibility the right-shot center will return to Tampa Bay in the near future to be fully evaluated. The Lightning's current road trip concludes Sunday in Dallas.

Trio of apples in win
Point delivered a three-assist performance Saturday in a 7-2 win over Philadelphia.
Impact
Point's five-game scoring streak was snapped Tuesday against the Avs, but he's right back on the horse. His overall 29 points in 36 games don't leap off the page, especially for a guy with his pedigree. But Point has really added some nitrous oxide to his game over the last month. He has 18 points, including 11 helpers, and 29 shots in his last 14 games. Point is the sizzle and the steak right now.

Finally warming up as streak grows
Point had a goal and an assist in a 7-3 victory over San Jose on Saturday.
Impact
The Sharks started flat-footed, and Point made them pay early on a 3-on-2. His assist came later on the power play. Point is on a five-game, seven-point scoring streak (11 shots), and he has a power-play point in each of his last two games. And he's also on a three-game goal streak (four). Point has scuffled this season, and he has just 10 snipes in 34 games after averaging 46 goals over his last three seasons. His luck is improving, and that means you'll benefit from a strong second half as you drive to your own playoffs.
