Lightning play the Sabres, look to extend home win streak
The Tampa Bay Lightning host the Buffalo Sabres looking to continue an 11-game home winning streak

Five points in last two games
Point had a goal and an assist in Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Hurricanes.
Impact
Point has two multi-point games (three goals, two assists) in the Bolts two games since the break. There's no rust on his game after missing 11 games prior to the Olympics with a lower-body injury. The Bolts could afford to give Point some rest to protect his health, what with a six-point lead over Detroit and Montreal at the top of the Atlantic. Even if that happens, he's still a great fantasy option. Point has 35 points, including 14 goals, and 89 shots in 39 games.

Notches three points in return
Point scored two goals, recorded an assist and fired five shots on goal in Wednesday's 4-2 win over Toronto.
Impact
Point made an immediate impact upon his return to Tampa Bay's lineup following his 11-game absence before the Olympic break. Not only did he score twice and add an assist, but he tallied 11 total shots, despite missing the net six times. His hot start to the post-Olympic break bodes well for the 29-year-old's chance to turn around his rough campaign, where he's posted 13 goals, 33 points and 87 shots on net across 38 games this season. When healthy, Point remains a steady fantasy option and is in a great spot to succeed while centering the Lightning's top line.

Slated to be in Wednesday's lineup
Point (lower body) is expected to draw into the lineup against Toronto on Wednesday, Benjamin Pierce of the Lightning's official site reports.
Impact
Point was placed on injured reserve Jan. 16 after getting hurt in Philadelphia on Jan. 12. The right-shot center was then transferred to LTIR in early February and wasn't able to represent Team Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics due to his injury. Now that he's back in the fold, it may take some time for Point to get back up to speed, but prior to getting hurt, he was playing at an extremely high level, amassing eight goals, 19 points and a plus-16 rating across a 15-game stretch.

Ruled out for Olympics
Point (lower body) has been ruled out of the upcoming Olympics for Team Canada, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports Thursday.
Impact
Point is on long-term injured reserve and hasn't played for the Lightning since Jan. 12 due to his lower-body injury. His status for the Olympics was up in the air, but he'll ultimately be held out and replaced by Seth Jarvis. His next opportunity to suit up for Tampa Bay will be Feb. 25 against Toronto, but it's not yet clear whether he'll be able to do so.

Moves to LTIR
Point (lower body) was transferred to long-term injured reserve Tuesday, per PuckPedia.
Impact
Point last played Jan. 12 versus the Flyers. He is required to be out for 10 games and 24 days. He will complete the first requirement Tuesday versus the Sabres, but he's already been ruled out for the Lightning up to the Olympic break. Point is still a possibility to play for Team Canada at the Olympics, though it remains what the national team is planning to do in regards to his status.

Won't return before break
Point (lower body) will not be back ahead of the Olympic break, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports Tuesday.
Impact
Point was previously deemed week-to-week by the club, so this development shouldn't come as a surprise. The 29-year-old center hasn't been ruled out for the Winter Olympics yet, and may still be an option for Team Canada in its Feb. 12 clash with Czechia.

Officially lands on IR
Point (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Friday, per the NHL media site.
Impact
Point was already deemed week-to-week by the club, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to see him end up on injured reserve. In his last eight games before getting hurt, the Calgary native racked up five goals and six helpers, including a trio of power-play points. With an extended absence, Point could miss the 80-point threshold for the first time since 2021-22.

Deemed week-to-week
Point (lower body) is week-to-week, per Lightning play-by-by announcer Dave Randorf on Tuesday.
Impact
Point sustained the injury in Monday's 5-1 win over Philadelphia. While it isn't a season-ending issue, he will likely be out for a while, and it remains unclear if it will impact his availability for the 2026 Winter Olympics in February. Point has amassed 11 goals, 30 points and 82 shots on net through 37 appearances this season.
