Golden Knights' Olympics break: Rest for some, grind for others

The Winter Olympics break could be a mixed blessing for the Vegas Golden Knights

Expected to be out through Olympics General manager Kelly McCrimmon conveyed Monday that McNabb (upper body) isn't scheduled to return to the lineup until after the 2026 Winter Olympics, per SinBin.vegas.

Impact McNabb was classified as week-to-week at the beginning of January and landed on injured reserve shortly thereafter. The left-shot blueliner has missed nine straight games and likely won't be back in the lineup until Feb. 25 in Los Angeles.

Still, the veteran defenseman can be activated at any point once given the all-clear. McNabb has notched just three points in 38 games this year, so few fantasy managers figure to be impacted by his continued absence.

Impact McNabb sustained the injury during Wednesday's 4-2 loss to Nashville. He has two goals, three points, 18 PIM, 63 hits and 98 blocks in 38 appearances in 2025-26. Jaycob Megna was summoned from AHL Henderson on Thursday and should play regularly during McNabb's absence.

Impact McNabb didn't play after getting hurt in the third period. The defenseman's status wasn't updated after the game, leaving him in doubt for Friday versus the Blues. The Golden Knights will likely need to call up a defenseman from AHL Henderson to provide additional depth -- if McNabb is unavailable, there are currently just five blueliners on Vegas' roster.

The 34-year-old blueliner continues to function as a shutdown defenseman, though he may be struggling a bit without usual partner Shea Theodore, who is out with an upper-body injury. McNabb has three points, 33 shots on net, 97 blocks, 63 hits, 18 PIM and a minus-5 rating through 37 appearances this season.
