Signs with Dallas Halverson signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Stars on Wednesday.

Impact Halverson made three regular-season NHL appearances for the Lightning across the past two seasons, but he spent most of his time in the AHL. Across 43 regular-season starts with AHL Syracuse last year, he went 24-11-10 with a 2.42 GAA and .905 save percentage.

Impact Halverson will get the nod after Andrei Vasilevskiy was initially expected to start. This is unlikely to be an injury-related issue -- Halverson is up with the team because Jonas Johansson (undisclosed) is unavailable. Halverson made a brief relief appearance Dec. 13 versus the Islanders but has otherwise spent the bulk of the campaign in the AHL.

Jonas Johansson missed Monday's game against Detroit due to an undisclosed injury, which prompted Tampa Bay to dress emergency backup goaltender Kyle Konin. It's unclear if Johansson is an option to play in Wednesday's home game against the Rangers, but Halverson's promotion suggests he might not be.
