Ends playoff run winless Forsberg stopped 27 of 31 shots in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Avalanche in Game 4 of the Western Conference first round.
Impact Forsberg didn't win a single game in the playoffs as the Avs swept the Kings, and even though the outcome of the series wasn't Forsberg's fault, it's worth noting he posted a save percentage under .880 in his last two starts. Forsberg ends the playoff run with a 0-4-0 record, 2.70 GAA and a .909 save percentage in four appearances.

MacKinnon leads Avalanche to 5-1 win and 1st-round sweep of LA Kings, ending Anze Kopitar's career

Facing Avalanche in Game 4 Forsberg will protect the home net against Colorado on Sunday in Game 4, Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site reports.
Impact Forsberg is still seeking his first NHL postseason win. During the opening round of the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs, he has gone 0-3 versus the Avalanche despite allowing only seven goals on 90 shots.

Falters on home ice Forsberg allowed three goals on 22 shots in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Avalanche in Game 3. The fourth goal was an empty-netter.
Impact Forsberg has allowed seven goals on 90 shots over three playoff contests, but he is 0-3, leaving the Kings on the brink of elimination. The 33-year-old was always going to have a tough time taking on the top team in the league, but he's put in a good effort to keep games competitive in the first round. Game 4 is set for Sunday in Los Angeles.

In goal for Game 3 Forsberg will guard the home goal in Game 3 versus the Avalanche on Thursday, Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site reports.
Impact Forsberg has held the Avalanche to four goals on 68 shots over the first two games of this season, but he doesn't have a win to show for his efforts. He'll try to maintain his strong play as the series shifts to Los Angeles for this game and the next one. As long as Forsberg maintains his strong play, he should continue to get the starts in goal.

Comes up short again Forsberg allowed two goals on 36 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Avalanche in Game 2.
Impact Forsberg has allowed just six goals on 87 shots over his last three outings, but he's gone winless in those games. The 33-year-old is still playing well enough to keep the Kings competitive, so it seems likely he'll get a chance to show what he can do on home ice in Game 3 on Thursday. Forsberg will need more than one goal of support per game, which is all the help he's received so far this postseason.

Set to start Game 2 Forsberg is expected to get the nod on the road against Colorado in Game 2 on Tuesday, per Aarif Deen of Colorado Hockey Now.
Impact Forsberg allowed just two goals on 34 shots in a Game 1 loss. In his last eight appearances, the netminder has given up three or more goals just once, posting a combined 5-2-0 record and 1.49 GAA. Despite Forsberg's strong run of form, if he struggles, he could find himself replaced in the crease by Darcy Kuemper.

Tough loss to Avs in Game 1 Forsberg made 28 saves Sunday during the Kings' 2-1 loss to the Avalanche in Game 1 of their first-round series.
Impact The veteran netminder played well, but Los Angeles' offense couldn't solve Scott Wedgewood until there was less than three minutes left in the third period. Forsberg hasn't allowed more than three goals in an outing in over a month, posting a stellar 1.67 GAA and .940 save percentage over his last nine appearances as he seized the No. 1 job in the Kings' crease from Darcy Kuemper. Forsberg will likely be between the pipes again in Game 2 on Tuesday.

Earns Game 1 starting nod Forsberg led the Kings out for warmups and will start Game 1 against the Avalanche, Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site reports.
Impact Forsberg spent much of the season as the number two goaltender in Los Angeles, playing in just 36 games on the season, but he will be the guy in goal in Game 1. The 33-year-old earned it with a fantastic month of April, going 5-1-0 with a 1.48 GAA and a .944 save percentage. On the flip side, Darcy Kuemper, the normal starter for the Kings, allowed 19 goals over the final four starts of his regular season. Regardless, Forsberg will have his hands full with the Avalanche, the league's best offense at 3.63 goals per game.

Takes loss against Calgary Forsberg allowed two goals on 20 shots in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Flames.
Impact Forsberg's five-game winning streak was snapped with this result. The loss ultimately didn't matter -- both Edmonton and Anaheim won Thursday, which would have prevented the Kings from moving out of the second wild-card spot. Forsberg concludes the regular season at 16-12-5 with a 2.57 GAA and a .910 save percentage over 36 games. He played better than Darcy Kuemper down the stretch, but it remains to be seen which goalie gets the nod Sunday for Game 1 versus the Avalanche, a series in which the Kings will be heavy underdogs.

Guarding cage versus Flames Forsberg will be in goal on the road against Calgary on Thursday, Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site reports.
Impact Forsberg is riding a five-game winning streak during which he recorded a 1.37 GAA and one shutout. The 33-year-old's run of form could see him get the Game 1 start if he puts together another strong outing versus the Flames. If Forsberg does get the nod, he will likely be on a short leash with Darcy Kuemper waiting in the wings.

Keeps winning streak alive Forsberg stopped 28 of 31 shots in Monday's 5-3 win over the Kraken.
Impact Forsberg has won each of his last five starts, and aside from helping the Kings clinch a playoff berth with this win, he's also proving to be an excellent fantasy asset across all formats. Over the course of his winning run, Forsberg has posted a 1.37 GAA and an elite .949 save percentage, so he should enter the postseason on a scorching-hot run of play. The Kings have two games left before the end of the regular season, as they'll face the Canucks on Tuesday and the Flames on Thursday. It remains to be seen if Forsberg will start either of those contests with the team's playoff luck already established.

Impact Forsberg has allowed only four goals on 107 shots during his four-game winning streak. He has a 15-11-5 record during the 2025-26 campaign with three shutouts, a 2.57 GAA and a .909 save percentage through 34 appearances. Seattle ranks 27th in the league with 2.78 goals per game this season.
