Impact McDonough signed an AHL-only deal with Charlotte in early July, but he spent the last few weeks with Florida on a tryout. However, he was unable to secure a spot on the Opening Night roster and will attempt to make an impact in the minors early in the season.

Impact McDonough has already signed an AHL-only deal with AHL Charlotte, so this tryout could just be the Panthers trying to fill out their roster. Still, if the 24-year-old winger can show something during camp, he could be rewarded with a two-way deal. Even if that does happen, McDonough will be hard-pressed to secure a spot on the Opening Night roster.

Signs AHL deal McDonough signed a one-year contract with AHL Charlotte on Friday, Rick Dhaliwal of CHEK reports.

Impact McDonough wasn't qualified by the Canucks last month, making him an unrestricted free agent. The 24-year-old debuted with the Canucks in 2023, after a four-year career at Northeastern University, scoring once in six NHL games. McDonough spent last season with AHL Abbotsford, finding the back of the net on 11 occasions and adding eight assists in 58 games. He should spend all season with Florida's AHL affiliate in 2024-25.

Won't be qualified McDonough won't be given a qualifying offer from the Canucks and will become an unrestricted free agent Monday, Rick Dhaliwal of CHEK reports.

Impact McDonough spent all of 2023-24 with AHL Abbotsford, earning 19 points in 58 contests. The seventh-round pick from 2019 is expected to have interest on the open market, but his lack of success upon his move to the professional ranks will likely mean he needs some time in the AHL again in 2024-25.
