Promoted to active roster Week 18 The Cardinals elevated Williams from the practice squad Saturday, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Impact Williams is in line to make his season debut after joining Arizona's practice squad in mid-October. Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury already said Friday that Corey Clement and Keaontay Ingram would be in line for increased roles Week 18 after top running back James Conner (shin/ankle) was ruled out. Therefore, it's likely Williams will serve as the team's third-string running back in this relatively meaningless regular-season finale for Arizona, as the team was eliminated from the 2022 playoffs multiple weeks ago.

Joins Cardinals' practice squad Williams was signed to the Cardinals' practice squad Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
Impact Williams was cut by the Ravens prior to the 2022 season and will now join his third team of the year following a short stint with the Colts in the preseason. With James Conner (ribs) and Darrel Williams (knee) banged up heading into Week 6, it's possible Williams could be added to the active roster for Sunday's matchup with the Seahawks.

Inks with Colts Williams signed with the Colts on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Impact Williams had his one-year contract tender withdrawn by the Ravens on May 10, but he has found a new home with the Colts. Williams will face stiff competition to make the squad with the one-two combo of Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines returning. The Colts also signed Phillip Lindsay last Tuesday, who will be looking to rebound from a disappointing 2021 campaign. Last season Williams appeared in 13 contests with Baltimore, rushing 35 times for 185 yards and a touchdown while catching nine of 12 targets for 84 yards.

Hitting free agency The Ravens have withdrawn their one-year contract tender previously extended to Williams, making him a free agent, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Impact Williams becomes a free agent after just one season with the Ravens in which he tallied 35 carries for 185 yards and one touchdown over 13 games. The second-year running back will turn 26 years old at the start of this coming season and was likely crowded out of Baltimore's running back room due to the drafting of Missouri running back Tyler Badie and addition of free agent Mike Davis. Williams will likely look to sign with a new active roster or possibly a team's practice squad, where he can compete for running back reps heading into the regular season.

Retained by Ravens The Ravens have extended a one-year contract tender to Williams, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Impact Through 13 appearances last season, Williams logged 35 carries for 185 yards and a TD to go along with nine catches for 84 yards on 12 targets. Now that he's slated to remain with the Ravens for the 2022 campaign, the 25-year-old figures to compete for the team's No. 3 running back role behind Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins, who are both bouncing back from knee injuries that landed them on IR last season.
MARCH 10, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Disappears as season progresses Williams had 35 carries for 185 yards and a touchdown over 13 games in 2021. He added nine receptions for 84 yards on 12 targets.
Impact Williams was a hot name at the end of draft season as the lone remaining running back on the roster after J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards went down late in the preseason with season-ending knee injuries. The early returns were promising; he scored a touchdown in the opener and had 13 carries for 77 yards in Week 2. However, issues such as blitz pickup forced the Ravens to go away from Williams after that as the team pilfered the pile of veteran free agents like Devonta Freeman, Latavius Murray and even Le'Veon Bell to handle the backfield duties. Williams' role diminished from there and he had all of 20 offensive snaps and two total carries after the Week 8 bye. With Dobbins and Edwards primed to return, Williams projects to be the No.3 running back going into the offseason assuming the team doesn't retain Freeman and Murray.

No snaps with offense Williams did not play an offensive snaps Sunday against the Browns.
Impact A week after being inactive, Williams was able to play Sunday but did not see any playing time with the offense. He logged nine snaps on special teams while Devonta Freeman and Latavius Murray took on the bulk of the running back work. Williams hasn't had more than one carry in any game since Week 7 and does not appear to have a role in Baltimore's offense any longer.
DECEMBER 14, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Inactive Sunday Williams is a healthy scratch for Sunday's game against the Steelers, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Impact With Williams inactive, the Ravens' Week 13 backfield will be comprised of Devonta Freeman, Latavius Murray and Nate McCrary.
DECEMBER 5, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Carries once Williams recorded one carry for one yard and failed to catch his lone target in Sunday's 16-10 win over the Browns.
Impact Williams continues to be an afterthought in the Ravens' offensive attack, playing on just two offensive snaps in the game. Veterans Devonta Freeman and Latavius Murray are splitting the workload at running back, leaving little opportunity for Williams. Next up for Baltimore is a matchup against Pittsburgh in Week 13.
DECEMBER 1, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Not involved on offense Williams failed to record a single carry in Sunday's 16-13 win over the Bears.
Impact Williams played five snaps on special teams, accounting for his only game action. Though he showed potential at running back in the preseason, it is clear that the Ravens do not trust the 25-year-old enough to be a big part of the offensive game plan. Instead, the team will continue to rely on veterans Latavius Murray and Devonta Freeman to carry the load barring any additions from outside the organization. Williams should remain off the fantasy radar going into a matchup with the Browns in Week 12.

AFC North-leading Ravens have overcome a lot

The Baltimore Ravens were beset by injury problems before the season began, but they have persevered well enough that they lead the AFC North after eight games
NOVEMBER 9, 2021 • Associated Press
Effective in limited role Williams had two carries for 10 yards and caught both of his targets for 24 yards Sunday against the Bengals.
Impact Latavius Murray's injury paved the way for Williams to rejoin the active roster Sunday. The run game went out the window in the second half when the Bengals started to build a multiscore lead, so no Baltimore running back saw much work. Williams, along with Le'Veon Bell and Devonta Freeman, each saw more than 20 snaps, but none of them tallied more than five carries. Baltimore is on bye this week, which gives Murray added time to get healthy. That could complicate Williams' status for Week 9 if Murray is indeed active, though neither Bell nor Freeman are outplaying Williams by any significant measure.
OCTOBER 26, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Suiting up Sunday Williams is active for Sunday's game against the Bengals, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Impact Williams returned to the inactive list for the Ravens' Week 6 win over the Chargers, but he'll be suiting up as the team's No. 3 back Sunday after Latavius Murray (ankle) was ruled out for the contest. Devonta Freeman is expected to replace Murray as the team's lead option out of the backfield, while Le'Veon Bell looks to be next in line for work. As a result, Williams likely won't be tasked with handling a meaningful role Week 7.
OCTOBER 24, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Not active Sunday Williams (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Chargers.
Impact Williams was inactive for Week 4 before suiting up last week against the Colts and totaling six touches for 21 yards, and he's now inactive again for Week 6. Latavius Murray should lead Baltimore's backfield versus Los Angeles while Devonta Freeman and Le'Veon Bell operate as the secondary options.
OCTOBER 17, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Gets six touches Williams rushed four times for six yards and caught both his targets for 15 yards in Monday night's 31-25 overtime win against the Colts.
Impact After being inactive in Week 4, Williams was the second tailback to enter the game for Baltimore but didn't get his first touch until after both starter Latavius Murray and fellow backup Devonta Freeman has gotten theirs. Although the three split snaps over the course of the contest, when a big deficit required Baltimore to pass the ball more, Williams wasn't able to take advantage. Fortunately, neither Murray nor Freeman topped 35 scrimmage yards either, leaving the Ravens' backfield picture muddled. Given Williams' role reduction since the first couple games of the season, as well as the practice-squad presence of Le'Veon Bell, Williams' fantasy value is precarious ahead of a Week 6 matchup versus the Chargers.
OCTOBER 12, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Available to offense Monday Williams is active for Monday's game against the Colts.
Impact Williams hovered around 50 percent of the Ravens' offensive snaps in each of the first three games of the season, turning 27 carries into 164 yards and one touchdown to go with five catches (on seven targets) for 45 yards. Clearly the initial beneficiary of all the injuries in Baltimore's backfield, he was curiously a healthy scratch Week 4 while Latavius Murray was the lead runner, with Le'Veon Bell and Devonta Freeman getting the rest of the RB work. The team opted not to elevate Bell from the practice squad Monday, leaving Murray, Freeman and Williams as its available running backs. Considering he's been active for each of the Ravens' five contests this season, Murray again seems poised to be the No. 1 RB, but it'll be interesting to see if Williams can regain a foothold.
OCTOBER 11, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Should dress Monday Williams is expected to be active for Monday's game against the Colts as the Ravens' third running back after Baltimore elected not to elevate Le'Veon Bell from the practice squad,...
Impact While the possibility exists that the Ravens may keep only two backs (Latavius Murray and Devonta Freeman) active for Week 5, the team's decision not to bring Bell aboard for another game suggests that Williams may have temporarily exited head coach John Harbaugh's doghouse. Though Williams averaged a healthy 6.1 yards per carry through the Ravens' first three games, his ball-security concerns and struggles as a pass blocker likely contributed to him being a healthy scratch Week 4 in Denver. With that in mind, Williams may not be in line to handle an extensive role behind Murray and Freeman even if he dresses Monday.
OCTOBER 11, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Inactive for Sunday's game Williams is inactive for Sunday's game against the Broncos, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Impact With Williams sitting this one out, the Ravens have decided to go with the veteran backfield trio of Latavius Murray (the expected Week 4 starter), Le'Veon Bell and Devonta Freeman versus Denver.
OCTOBER 3, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Not expected to start Williams could be headed for a smaller role Sunday against the Ravens with Mike Garofolo of NFL Network reporting that Latavius Murray is expected to serve as Baltimore's lead back...
Impact Williams has been listed as a starter in each of the Ravens' previous three games, but the designation hasn't meant much from a fantasy perspective, as Baltimore has ran a full-fledged backfield committee in each of those contests. Though the second-year player out of South Carolina is averaging an excellent 6.1 yards per carry on 27 totes, he drew poor reviews from offensive coordinator Greg Roman coming out of last week's win over Detroit and looks on track to see a smaller role Sunday after handling snap shares between 47 and 51 percent in each of Baltimore's first three contests. Murray projects to see the largest workload of a backfield that also includes Williams, Le'Veon Bell and Devonta Freeman, but expect Baltimore to once again take a committee approach to the position, making it difficult to trust any of the four players in Week 4 fantasy lineups.
OCTOBER 3, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Possible healthy scratch? Williams could be a healthy inactive Sunday against the Broncos after the team called up Le'Veon Bell from the practice squad, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athleticreports.
Impact It's highly unlikely the Ravens keep four running backs active Sunday, and while Zrebiec suggested Devonta Freeman seems like the first choice to sit, offensive coordinator Greg Roman didn't exactly give a ringing endorsement of Williams in post-game reports last week. The muddled depth chart is certainly a complicating issue for fantasy managers given Latavius Murray has continued to siphon off carries (seven for 28 last week), and it doesn't appear things will get any easier against a capable Broncos run defense.
OCTOBER 2, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
First dud of young career Williams rushed five times for 22 yards and failed to catch his only target in Sunday's 19-17 win over the Lions.
Impact Latavius Murray (28 yards on seven carries, no targets) wasn't much better, as Baltimore's running backs simply failed to get going in this one. Despite this poor performance, Williams has been the most productive member of the Ravens' backfield over Murray and Devonta Freeman, who had just eight yards on three carries in this one. Williams will look to get back on track in Denver in Week 4.
SEPTEMBER 26, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Leads backfield in victory Williams rushed 13 times for 77 yards and caught both of his targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 36-35 win over the Chiefs.
Impact Williams continued to lead the backfield as expected following the acquisition of Devonta Freeman (two rushes for 29 yards), but he did have a touchdown vultured by Latavius Murray. Lamar Jackson stole the show on the ground (16 rushes for 107 yards and two rushing scores), leaving scraps for the rest of the Ravens' rushing attack. It was still a solid outing from Williams all things considered, and his line would have looked a whole lot better if he cashed in on one of those three rushing scores. The former undrafted rookie has a nice matchup on tap against a young, unproven Lions defense next Sunday.

NFL Week 2 top moments: Ravens, Titans, Cowboys escape with wins Sunday
Part of backfield rotation Despite the addition of Devonta Freeman to the Ravens' active roster, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic believes that Williams and Latavius Murray continue to profile as the team's top...
Impact With that in mind, Zrebiec suggests that Freeman figures to log limited touches and see some third-down work in a backfield that offensive coordinator Greg Roman indicates will continue to "rotate guys in and out and try to keep them as fresh as we can." In that context, Williams will continue to see his share of touches Sunday against Kansas City, but Murray and Freeman, to a lesser degree, also will factor in. As is the case in any timeshare, weekly carry allotments could vary if/when any of the team's backs emerges as the hot hand in any given contest.
