Impact In addition to absorbing some of Chase's vacated target volume while likely being featured more regularly in two-receiver sets alongside Tee Higgins, Boyd may notice some more diversity with the type of routes he runs with the Bengals' top wideout expected to miss more than a month. For the season, Boyd has taken 343 of his 396 snaps out of the slot, but the loss of Chase will likely force Boyd to work on the perimeter more frequently. While Chase's absence should bolster Boyd's target counts, downfield and scoring opportunities, the expected role change could hamper Boyd from an efficiency standpoint. Boyd has hauled in 76.3 percent of his targets on the season, but expect that rate to drop a bit while he faces more coverage from better cornerbacks and likely increases his average depth of target.

Impact Boyd got off to a hot start, as he broke off a 60-yard touchdown reception on Cincinnati's first offensive possession of the game. He remained heavily involved in the offense thereafter and recorded season-high marks in targets, receptions and yards. Despite the strong performance, Boyd will continue to command fewer targets than both Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, and he has surpassed five receptions in a game only twice this season.

Impact Tee Higgins (ankle) was able to suit up after being listed as a game-time decision, which pushed Boyd back into his usual spot at third on the receiver depth chart. The veteran finished third in targets and second and receiving yardage for Cincinnati. Boyd can certainly produce starter-worthy stat lines -- even as an auxiliary option for Joe Burrow -- but his ceiling feels capped when both of the Bengals' starting wideouts are healthy. That appears the be the scenario for Boyd heading into a matchup against the Falcons next Sunday.

The veteran's stat line is nothing to write home about, but the key note was Tee Higgins' (ankle) early departure 10 snaps into the contest. The latter entered the game hobbled after injuring the same ankle in Week 4, so Boyd could be in line for extra targets against the Saints next Sunday if Higgins is forced to miss the contest.

Impact Boyd recorded a 43-yard reception that served as his second longest of the season and also made his mark on a trick play as a passer, hitting Ja'Marr Chase for a 23-yard gain down the right side of the field in the first half. The veteran slot man finished third behind fellow wideouts Tee Higgins and Chase in receptions, receiving yards and targets, which is likely to be the case more often than not as the season unfolds, with an occasional exception.
