Caught up in roster cuts
The Buccaneers waived Palmer on Tuesday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact
Tampa Bay's decision to part ways with Palmer is somewhat surprising, given that the team projects to be without both Jalen McMillan (neck) and Chris Godwin (PUP-ankle) for at least the first month of the regular season. It's possible that the 2023 sixth-round pick lost out on a roster spot as a result of the hamstring injury that forced him to miss the Buccaneers' first two preseason game, though he returned for the team's final exhibition tilt against Buffalo on Saturday, securing one of two targets for 13 yards. If he clears waivers, Palmer seems likely to resurface on the practice squad.

One catch in preseason debut
Palmer (hamstring) secured one of two targets for 13 yards in the Buccaneers' 23-19 preseason loss to the Bills on Saturday night.
Impact
The third-year wideout made his preseason debut after overcoming his hamstring issue, and Palmer was able to make his one catch on the Buccaneers' third possession. Palmer is set to reprise his reserve receiver role again in 2025, and he could see a slight uptick in opportunity early with Jalen McMillan (neck) and Chris Godwin (PUP-ankle) not expected to be available for at least the first month of the regular season.

Missing time with hamstring injury
Palmer (hamstring) missed practice Thursday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
Impact
Palmer is in a fight for a roster spot and can't afford to miss much action. He's competing with the likes of Sterling Shepard, Tez Johnson, Ryan Miller, Rakim Jarrett and Kameron Johnson (undisclosed) for jobs behind Mike Evans, Chris Godwin (ankle), Emeka Egbuka and Jalen McMillan in Tampa Bay. Palmer's playing time was cut by more than half last season, posting a 12-172-1 receiving line on 305 offensive snaps.

Takes step back in second season
Palmer brought in 12 of 22 targets for 172 yards and one touchdown while adding 14 kickoff-return yards and 136 punt-return yards across 15 regular-season games in 2024.
Impact
Palmer had put together a solid rookie 2023 campaign in which he'd appeared in all 17 regular-season games and generated a 39-385-3 receiving line while adding 22 rushing yards on three attempts. However, despite Chris Godwin's season-ending ankle injury in Week 7 and Mike Evans' three-game absence with a hamstring injury, Palmer saw a big dip in production from scrimmage in his second season. However, Palmer was deployed as a returner for the first time and was effective running back punts, and he'll have an opportunity to make his case for reverting to a larger complementary role this offseason as he prepares to play out the third season of his rookie contract in 2025.

No offensive stats Sunday
Palmer logged eight snaps on offense in Sunday's 27-19 win over the Saints but did not see a target. He netted no gain on his one punt return.
Impact
The second-year wideout was limited to punt returns for the second consecutive week Sunday, as the majority of the Buccaneers' wide-receiver snaps were distributed among Mike Evans, Jalen McMillan and Sterling Shepard. Palmer is likely to remain primarily limited to returns during the upcoming postseason after finishing his second regular season with 12 catches for 172 yards and a touchdown on 22 targets, 14 kickoff-return yards and 136 punt-return yards over 15 games.

ROTOWIRE
Limited to punt returns in win
Palmer wasn't targeted over 23 snaps on offense and returned two punts for one yard in the Buccaneers' 48-14 win over the Panthers on Sunday.
Impact
Despite the fact Palmer was coming off his first multi-catch tally since Week 9 and Baker Mayfield enjoyed a banner day through the air, Palmer didn't have a single ball thrown his way Sunday. The second-year speedster did retain his returner role but was very quiet on that front as well, and he saw fellow reserve wideout Rakim Jarrett play two more snaps from scrimmage. It remains to be seen if the same pecking order will apply in a Week 18 home matchup against the Saints if Sterling Shepard (hamstring/foot) remains sidelined.

ROTOWIRE
Flashes on offense in loss
Palmer brought in two of four targets for 31 yards and returned four punts for 31 yards in the Buccaneers' 26-24 loss to the Cowboys on Sunday night.
Impact
After going without a catch for three consecutive games, Palmer logged counting stats on offense for the first time since Week 12 and multiple receptions for the first time since Week 9. Palmer still played a sparse 13 snaps (18 percent) from scrimmage, however, and his production remains hard to trust heading into a Week 17 home matchup against the Panthers.

Working through illness
Palmer (illness) was listed as a DNP on Thursday's injury report.
Impact
Palmer hasn't registered a catch over his last three games and it appears he is now under the weather. It's unclear what sort of ailment he's working through, but Friday's practice report should provide clarity on Palmer's status heading into Sunday's game against the Cowboys.

ROTOWIRE
Exclusively works as returner again
Palmer did not see a target over 17 snaps from scrimmage and returned one punt for 10 yards in the Buccaneers' 40-17 win over the Chargers on Sunday.
Impact
Palmer saw the fourth-most snaps among Tampa Bay's wide receivers, but he failed to draw a target for the second straight contest. The speedy second-year man has a modest 10-141-1 receiving line on the season and 141 total return yards, but his current fantasy value would be limited to very deep leagues that factor in special-teams statistics.

ROTOWIRE
Limited to special teams in win
Palmer did not draw a target and returned one punt for three yards in the Buccaneers' 28-13 win over the Raiders on Sunday. He also fumbled but recovered.
Impact
Palmer was able to work through a hip injury to suit up, but he went without a target for only the second time this season and played just seven snaps on offense overall. The second-year wideout saw fellow reserve Rakim Jarrett outpace him by three snaps and may essentially be in a timeshare for the No. 4 receiver spot with the latter at this point. However, with the majority of Baker Mayfield's attention centered on top three receivers Mike Evans, Jalen McMillan and Sterling Shepard -- and a fair share of targets also going to Cade Otton, Rachaad White and Bucky Irving (back) -- there isn't much left to go around for anyone else in the pass-catching corps.

ROTOWIRE
Will play Sunday vs. Vegas
Palmer (hip) is active for Sunday's game against the Raiders.
Impact
Palmer was questionable to play Sunday due to a hip injury that limited him in practice Thursday and Friday. However, the 2023 sixth-round pick has done enough over the weekend to be cleared to play, and he will continue to serve in a depth role at wide receiver behind Mike Evans, Jalen McMillan and Sterling Shepard. Palmer has logged 10 catches (on 18 targets) for 141 yards and one touchdown across 10 regular-season games.

ROTOWIRE
Questionable to face Raiders
Palmer (hip) is listed as quesitonable for Sunday's game against the Raiders.
Impact
Palmer's status is in doubt after a hip injury limited his practice participation Thursday and Friday. Even if he suits up, Palmer will likely remain in a depth role behind Mike Evans, Jalen McMillan and Sterling Shepard. Evans doesn't have an injury designation after battling hamstring and calf injuries during the week.

ROTOWIRE
Tending to hip injury
Palmer was a limited participant in Thursday's practice due to a hip injury.
Impact
Palmer wasn't included on the Buccaneers' initial Week 14 injury report Wednesday, so his limited listing Thursday could be indicative of an in-practice setback. The wideout will likely need to upgrade to full participation in Friday's practice to avoid taking a designation into Sunday's game versus the Raiders.

ROTOWIRE
Fails to bring in only target
Palmer failed to bring in his only target during the Buccaneers' 26-23 overtime win over the Panthers on Sunday.
Impact
Palmer played 15 snaps on offense, his third straight game logging under 20 snaps from scrimmage. Palmer failed to record a catch for the second time in that span while logging just a sole target for the third consecutive contest. With the quartet of Mike Evans, Jalen McMillan, Sterling Shepard and Cade Otton -- along with running backs Bucky Irving and Rachaad White --commanding the overwhelming amount of Baker Mayfield's attention, Palmer heads into a Week 14 home matchup against the Raiders with dim fantasy prospects.

ROTOWIRE
Double-digit yards on one catch
Palmer brought in his only target for 18 yards and returned one punt for 15 yards in the Buccaneers' 30-7 win over the Giants on Sunday.
Impact
The second-year wideout played 17 snaps (26 percent), placing him behind Jalen McMillan (41 snaps), Mike Evans (39 snaps), Sterling Shepard (35 snaps) and Rakim Jarrett (21 snaps) in terms of the team's wideouts. Palmer figures to remain in a deep reserve role as long as injuries don't strike in front of him on the depth chart, but he's now recorded at least one catch in five of the last six contests.

ROTOWIRE
Can't haul in only target
Palmer failed to secure his only target in the Buccaneers' 23-20 loss to the 49ers on Sunday.
Impact
The second-year speedster was in on just 15 snaps (25 percent) during the narrow loss, surprising considering the absence of Mike Evans and unavailability of Jalen McMillan due to hamstring issues. Palmer had logged at least 25 snaps in each of the previous three games, making Sunday's downturn all the more noteworthy. With both Evans and McMillan potentially available for a Week 12 road matchup against the Giants following a Week 11 bye, Palmer could be headed for another minor role in that contest.

ROTOWIRE
Two catches in OT loss
Palmer secured two of four targets for 33 yards and returned two punts for 18 yards in the Buccaneers' 30-24 overtime loss to the Chiefs on Monday night.
Impact
Palmer generated modest production despite the Buccaneers' multiple wide receiver absences and his 49 percent snap share. The second-year wideout did record both of his catches on Tampa Bay's late-fourth-quarter game-tying drive, but he's yet to top three receptions or Monday's 33 yards in any contest heading into a Week 10 home matchup against the 49ers .

ROTOWIRE
Pair of catches in Week 8 loss
Palmer brought in both targets for 29 yards and returned two punts for 31 yards in the Buccaneers' 31-26 loss to the Falcons on Sunday.
Impact
Palmer was in line for extended opportunity due to the absences of Mike Evans (hamstring) and Chris Godwin (IR-ankle), and he indeed logged 51 snaps (70 percent). However, Palmer's numbers left much to be desired, and he's still in search of his first 30+ yard showing of the campaign. The second-year speedster will be on the field plenty again during a Week 9 road matchup against the Chiefs next Monday night.

ROTOWIRE
Should see more opportunity Sunday
Palmer is in line for an increased role in the Buccaneers' passing attack beginning with Sunday's divisional matchup against the Falcons due to the absences of Mike Evans (hamstrin...
Impact
Evans is expected to be sidelined through Tampa Bay's Week 11 bye while Godwin has been placed on season-ending injured reserve, meaning Palmer should be in for a multi-week boost in snaps and targets. The second-year wideout does have a solid amount of experience despite his relatively brief NFL tenure, having played in all 17 regular-season games and two postseason games as a rookie in 2023 and also appearing in five games thus far this season. Palmer has a modest 5-61-1 receiving line on nine targets in 2024, but he'll be poised for an immediate increase in opportunity while working as the projected No. 2 receiver alongside Jalen McMillan during Evans' absence.

ROTOWIRE
Minimal production against Ravens
Palmer caught one of his three targets for 16 yards in Monday's 41-31 loss to the Ravens.
Impact
Palmer was unable to get much going for fantasy purposes Monday, despite taking on a bit more of a prominent role with teammate Mike Evans (hamstring) exiting early in the first half of the contest. Palmer played the second-most offensive snaps (59) at wide receiver in the contest, but could only reel in one pass from quarterback Baker Mayfield. With Evans set to miss at least three weeks and Chris Godwin suffering what appears to be a season-ending ankle injury, Palmer will likely be called upon to play a more prominent role in Tampa Bay's passing attack, alongside fellow receivers Jalen McMillan and Sterling Shepard. Palmer and the Buccaneers are set to host the Falcons in Week 8.

ROTOWIRE
Active in Week 7
Palmer (concussion) is active for Monday's game against the Ravens.
Impact
Palmer has suffered and recovered from two concussions over the last two months, missing Weeks 5 and 6 in the process. Even before his most recent absence, though, he gathered in only four of six targets for 45 yards and one touchdown in four appearances this season. Working in a receiving corps with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin doesn't leave much in terms of passes from QB Baker Mayfield for others, but Palmer at least will be back in action Monday, vying with Jalen McMillan and Sterling Shepard for looks behind the top duo.
