INJURIES

Cut with injury settlement The 49ers waived Sharpe (undisclosed) with an injury settlement Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
Impact San Francisco signed Sharpe to its practice squad Nov. 7 but placed him on the practice squad injured list with an undisclosed issue eight days later. The veteran receiver has yet to see NFL action this season following a 2021 campaign during which he caught 25 passes for 230 yards as a member of the Falcons.

Lands on PS injured list The 49ers placed Sharpe (undisclosed) on the practice squad injured list Tuesday.

Signs with 49ers' practice squad Sharpe was signed to the 49ers' practice squad Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Impact Sharpe worked out for the 49ers last week and will now join the team's practice unit. The wide receiver caught 25 passes for 230 yards while appearing in 15 games with the Falcons last season and has yet to appear in a contest in 2022. Sharpe will provide San Francisco with an additional depth option on offense and could even get elevated for Week 10 versus the Chargers if Deebo Samuel (hamstring) is held out again.

Misses practice Sharpe (undisclosed) did not practice Saturday, Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun Times reports.
Impact Sharpe is one of multiple Bears receivers currently out of action, as Byron Pringle (quadriceps) and N'Keal Harry (ankle) are also out of action. The potential length of Sharpe's absence is unknown, but he continues to be in the mix for a roster spot, occasionally earning first-team reps in camp.

Leads team in receiving Sharpe caught both of his targets for 44 yards in the Bears' 19-14 victory over the Chiefs on Saturday.
Impact Sharpe played snaps with Justin Fields and the first-team offense, and he made an acrobatic one-handed catch near the sideline while keeping his feet inbounds. He's in the mix to compete for a roster spot, and, he took advantage of his first preseason opportunity.

No longer on NFI list Sharpe (undisclosed) was removed from the active/non-football injury list Tuesday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Impact Heading into his seventh season, Sharpe has been cleared to begin practicing with the Bears, as he'll have an opportunity to rejuvenate his NFL career. The seventh-year wideout spent his 2021 campaign with the Falcons, where he accounted for 25 receptions and 230 yards in 15 games. Along with Sharpe, the team also brought in a plethora of veteran receivers, including N'Keal Harry, Equanimeous St. Brown, Dante Pettis and David Moore to compete behind top options Darnell Mooney and Byron Pringle. Expect Sharpe to jump back into the mix this week and compete for a roster spot.

Two targets, zero catches Sharpe drew two targets but failed to record a reception during Sunday's 30-20 loss to the Saints.
Impact Sharpe returned from a two-game absence but remained relatively uninvolved in Atlanta's offense. In his first season with the Falcons, the fifth-year wideout hauled in 25 catches for 230 yards but didn't record a touchdown across 15 appearances. He's set to become a free agent this offseason, but it's unclear what type of market he will draw or if Atlanta will be interested in a reunion. Barring Calvin Ridley (personal) returning to the team in 2022, Atlanta will likely be in search of weapons to pair with 2021 first-round pick Kyle Pitts, so a potential return to the Falcons isn't out of the question for Sharpe.

Comes off COVID-19 list Atlanta activated Sharpe (illness) from the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.
Impact The Falcons will get two of their key pass catchers in Sharpe and tight end Hayden Hurst back ahead of Sunday's season finale against Saints, after both sat out the Week 17 loss to the Bills upon testing positive for the virus. Before landing on the list, Sharpe had served as the primary replacement in the lineup for Calvin Ridley (personal), who left the team after Week 7 to focus on his mental well-being. In his eight appearances with Ridley out of the lineup, Sharpe cobbled together a 15-130-0 receiving line on 23 targets, production that largely kept him off the fantasy radar despite playing significant snaps in all of those games.

Won't suit up Week 17 Sharpe (illness) won't be available for Sunday's game against the Bills after the Falcons didn't activate him from the reserve/COVID-19 list prior to Saturday's deadline for Week 1...
Impact He's one of two key Atlanta pass catchers that will remain on the list for the Week 17 contest, joining tight end Hayden Hurst (illness). Sharpe's absence will likely allow Olamide Zaccheaus and Christian Blake to join Russell Gage in three-receiver sets, while the blocking-oriented Lee Smith will serve as the top backup to starting tight end Kyle Pitts.

Added to COVID list Atlanta placed Sharpe (foot) on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday after he tested positive for the virus, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Impact Sharpe, who was inactive for Sunday's win over the Lions due to a foot injury, now has to get past both that issue in addition to COVID-19 protocols before he can return to action. Olamide Zaccheaus started opposite Russell Gage in Sharpe's stead in Week 16, finishing with two receptions for 32 yards on four targets.

Officially out Sunday Sharpe (foot) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Lions.
Impact It's hardly a surprise Sharpe isn't suiting up after sitting out practice this week and being labeled doubtful. Olamide Zaccheaus should be more involved in Atlanta's passing game versus Detroit in his absence.
DECEMBER 26, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Appears unlikely to play Sharpe (foot) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Lions.
Impact Sharpe wasn't able to practice in any capacity this week while nursing the foot injury, but the Falcons haven't completely closed the door on him playing Sunday. That said, unless he shows more improvement than expected when he's evaluated early Sunday, he likely will wind up on the inactive list for the first time all season. Sharpe has taken on an increased role on offense since Calvin Ridley went on personal leave Week 7, but the expected absences of both players this week should clear the way for Olamide Zaccheaus to serve as quarterback Matt Ryan's top option at outside receiver, while Russell Gage works out of the slot. Kyle Pitts also could pick up more snaps while lining up out wide, which would allow him and fellow tight end Hayden Hurst to share the field more often.

Doesn't practice again Sharpe (foot) didn't participate in Thursday's practice session.
Impact Sharpe sustained a foot injury in Sunday's loss to the 49ers and was considered day-to-day to begin the week. He'll presumably need to practice in some capacity Friday if he hopes to play Sunday against Detroit.
