INJURIES

Looks good at practice Sims (toe) appeared to be a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Kyle Stackpole of Washington's official site reports.
Impact Sims currently resides on injured reserve, which means the team won't list him on its daily practice reports this week. Based on Stackpole's report though, Sims appears to at least have a shot at playing in Sunday's game against the Giants. Dontrelle Inman and Isaiah Wright (shoulder) got most of the wideout snaps and targets behind Terry McLaurin over the past month while Sims was out, so there is a clear opening for him to reclaim a top-three role.

Back at practice Sims (toe) is slated to practice Wednesday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Impact Sims, who hasn't played since Week 3, remains on injured reserve, but now that he's back at practice, Washington will have up to 21 days to activate the wide receiver. Prior to suffering his injury, the 23-year-old recorded six catches (on eight targets) for 103 yards in three games.

Poised for some work Wednesday Sims (toe) may do some "running around" Wednesday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Impact It's unclear if Sims will take part in practice, or merely work out on the side, but he is eligible to be activated from IR this week, per Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post. If Sims does practice, Washington will open a 21-day window in which to bring him back to the active roster. He hasn't played since Week 3 due to a toe injury, but when he returns he'll be on the receiving end of passes from Kyle Allen and not Dwayne Haskins.

Steven Sims' Lifelong Breast Cancer Connection Both of Sims grandmothers’ are breast cancer survivors, so he understands the importance of raising awareness about the disease.

Lands on injured reserve Washington placed Sims (toe) on injured reserve Friday.
Impact The 23-year-old has been unable to practice since attempting to play through the toe injury Week 3. The move to IR will prevent Sims playing in any of Washington's next three games, making him ineligible to suit up again until at least Nov. 8 against the Giants. While Sims is sidelined, Dontrelle Inman (foot) should continue to work as Washington's No. 2 wideout, with Isaiah Wright the next man up.

Still no practice reps Sims (toe) didn't practice Thursday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Impact Meanwhile, fellow wide receivers Terry McLaurin (thigh) and Dontrelle Inman (foot) did what Sims could not: follow up a DNP on Wednesday with a limited session Thursday. Considering Sims hasn't practiced since Week 3, he appears to be in a tough spot ahead of Sunday's game versus the Rams. Friday's injury report may provide some clarity with his situation.
OCTOBER 8, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
DNP on Wednesday Sims (toe) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Impact Washington's top three wide receivers -- also, Terry McLaurin (thigh) and Dontrelle Inman (foot) -- all sat out Wednesday as the team prepares for a change at QB from Dwayne Haskins to Kyle Allen. Sims himself hasn't played since Week 3, so his practice status Thursday and Friday likely will be key to his potential to play Sunday against the Rams.

Peppers, Ruggs, Fuller among inactives for late games Sunday

Rams rookie safety Jordan Fuller is inactive for Los Angeles’ game against the New York Giants with a shoulder injury and Giants safety Jabrill Peppers is out, as expected

Won't play Sunday Sims (toe) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Baltimore, Kyle Stackpole of Washington's official site reports.
Impact Sims tried to play through the toe injury last week but was limited to season-low 36 percent snap share and zero targets in a 34-20 loss to the Browns. He hasn't practiced at all since that game, so it isn't clear he'll be back for Week 5 against the Rams. With Terry McLaurin (thigh) listed as questionable and looking like a game-time decision, Washington may be forced to rely on Dontrelle Inman, Isaiah Wright, Cam Sims and Antonio Gandy-Golden at wide receiver. As for special teams, options to replace Sims on kick/punt returns include Wright, RB Antonio Gibson, CB Greg Stroman and CB Danny Johnson. The depth chart on the team website lists Gibson as the next man up for kickoffs and Wright next in line for punts, but it was Stroman who fielded a punt when Sims was briefly pulled off those duties Week 2 at Arizona.

Absent again Friday Sims (toe) wasn't seen at practice Friday, Sam Fortier of The Washington Post reports.
Impact The 23-year-old has yet to practice this week and appears unlikely to be available for Sunday's game against the Ravens. Friday's injury report should shed more light on Sims' availability, but he appears to be trending in the wrong direction heading into the weekend. Top-wideout Terry McLaurin (thigh) is also limited, which could open up opportunities for Dontrelle Inman and Isaiah Wright.
OCTOBER 2, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Misses another practice Sims (toe) won't participate in Thursday's practice, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.
Impact With back-to-back absences at practice to begin Week 4, Sims looks to be trending in the wrong direction as Sunday's game against the Ravens nears. He'll likely need to turn in at least a limited showing in Friday's practice to take a questionable designation into the weekend. Sims' production has been relatively muted through Washington's first three games, with the wideout hauling in six of seven targets for 103 yards.

Absent from practice Sims (toe) didn't practice Wednesday, Kyle Stackpole of Washington's official site reports.
Impact Sims played through the injury in Sunday's 34-20 loss to Cleveland and handled his usual work in the return game, but his snap share on offense plummeted to 35 percent, way down from 83 and 91 percent over the first two weeks. The 23-year-old could bounce back into a larger role Week 4 against Baltimore, especially if fellow wide receiver Dontrelle Inman (wrist) isn't available. Inman also missed practice Wednesday.

Goes without any targets Sims didn't draw any targets in Sunday's 34-20 loss to Cleveland, playing only 35 percent of snaps on offense and returning three kicks for 23 yards.
Impact Sims was listed as questionable with a toe injury, and while he was deemed healthy enough for his usual role in the return game, Isaiah Wright stepped up to take a bunch of his playing on offense, catching four of six targets for 24 yards while handling 45 percent snap share. Washington also got a nice game from No. 3 receiver Dontrelle Inman, who scored a pair of touchdowns while playing 69 percent of snaps but suffered a wrist injury in the fourth quarter. It's possible this was all related to Sims' toe injury, but if not, it looks like the team has a crowded receiver rotation behind locked-in No. 1 Terry McLaurin. Next up is a highly difficult matchup with the Ravens in Week 4, though Baltimore will be playing on short rest after Monday Night Football in Week 3.

Good to go against CLE Sims (toe) is active Week 3 against the Browns.
Impact Sims steadily upgraded his practice status throughout the week, so it's not too surprising to see him out on the field for the road matchup against Cleveland. He'll likely resume his regular role as the No. 2 wideout, as well as serve as the primary kick return option. It's a small sample size of just two games, but Sims will be going up against a Browns defense that has given up the seventh-most fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers.
SEPTEMBER 27, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Deemed questionable for Week 3 Sims (toe) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Cleveland, Kyle Stackpole of Washington's official site reports.
Impact Sims upgraded his practice participation throughout the week, going from absent (Wednesday) to limited (Thursday) to full (Friday). He should be out there Sunday as Washington's No. 2 receiver, but fantasy managers will want to make sure when the team releases its inactive list around 11:30 a.m. ET on Sunday. Sims has played 87 percent of offensive snaps this season while also returning punts and kickoffs.
SEPTEMBER 25, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Gets 'limited' tag Thursday Sims (toe) was listed as limited on Thursday's injury report, Rhiannon Walker of The Athletic reports.
Impact Washington held Sims out of Wednesday's practice due to a toe injury, so his elevation to some work Thursday is a step in the right direction as the team prepares for Sunday's game at Cleveland. So far this season, he's a close second in offensive snap share (86.8 percent) behind No. 1 wide receiver Terry McLaurin (93.4). That said, Sims has accounted for just six catches (on seven targets) for 103 yards and no touchdowns through two games.
SEPTEMBER 24, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Dealing with toe injury Sims (toe) isn't practicing Wednesday, Kyle Stackpole of Washington's official site reports.
Impact Sims played 91 percent of offensive snaps in Sunday's 30-15 loss to the Cardinals, catching three of five targets for 53 yards and losing a fumble on a punt return. His usage suggests the toe injury isn't serious, or else he suffered it at the very end of the game. A return to practice Thursday would put Sims on track to suit up Sunday in Cleveland.
SEPTEMBER 23, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Gets five targets, fumbles punt Sims caught three of five targets for 53 yards in a 30-15 loss to the Cardinals on Sunday.
Impact The usage was a bit more promising than the stat line suggests, as both incompletions were on downfield throws and Sims also had two would-be targets wiped out by defensive penalties. On a less promising note, he lost a fumble on a punt return, setting up the Cardinals for a 14-point lead early in the game. Sims played 91 percent of snaps on offense, in addition to handling both punt and kick returns. He appears locked in as Washington's No. 2 receiver ahead of a Week 3 trip to Cleveland.

Plays 83 percent of snaps Sims caught each of his three targets for 50 yards in Sunday's 27-17 win over the Eagles, playing 83 percent of snaps on offense.
Impact Sims also took five punt returns for 17 yards and lined up as the deep man for kickoffs (all of which were touchbacks). His target total may have been disappointing, but the playing time and efficiency suggests he's the clear No. 2 receiver behind Terry McLaurin. Meanwhile, Dontrelle Inman caught two of five targets for 21 yards, handling 51 percent snap share.
SEPTEMBER 14, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Starting at WR, KR, PR Sims is listed as a starter at wide receiver, kick returner and punt returner on Washington's initial 2020 depth chart.
Impact It sounds like the second-year pro will be busy in a Week 1 matchup with the Eagles. After putting up 259 receiving yards and four touchdowns over the final month of his rookie campaign, Sims never faced a serious challenge for a starting job in 2020, with reports out of training camp suggesting he could even see more snaps on the perimeter this year. Sims still figures to play a lot of slot in three-wide formations, but the key for fantasy value could be whether or not he stays on the field as an outside receiver in two-wide sets. He should be valuable in return yardage leagues, and he even has a shot to establish mainstream fantasy value, potentially serving as the No. 2 option in Washington's passing game.
