INJURIES

Pulls down one pass Sims secured one of two targets for 11 yards during Sunday's 20-15 loss to the Seahawks.
Impact Sims has collected one reception in three of his past four outings. The 23-year-old's only multi-catch performance in that span, Week 13 against Pittsburgh, yielded 17 yards. Terry McLaurin (12 targets) and Cam Sims (eight) were the wideouts most involved in Washington's passing game, while the Kansas product finished tied in a distant third alongside Isaiah Wright. With nearly as many punt returns (21) as receptions (22) this season, Sims has a single touchdown and only one performance of more than 20 receiving yards since Week 2.
DECEMBER 23, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Catches one pass Sims caught one of three targets for five yards in Sunday's 23-15 win over the 49ers.
Impact Cam Sims and Terry McLaurin both played more than 90 percent of snaps, while Steven Sims got 37 percent and Isaiah Wright took 27 percent . None of the bunch had more than two catches or 24 yards, as Alex Smith (calf) and Dwayne Haskins both struggled to get anything going. Washington won the game behind two defensive touchdowns, a formula that probably won't work in Week 15 against Seattle. Expect more of a contribution from the Washington passing offense in that contest, but this Sims isn't likely to be a central figure.
DECEMBER 14, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Pulls down four passes in upset Sims secured four of six targets for 17 yards during Monday's 23-17 win against the Steelers. He also posted a nine-yard punt return.
Impact Sims may have been held under 20 receiving yards for a third consecutive appearance, but his nine-yard third-down catch on Washington's opening drive of the second half helped situation the team for a touchdown to draw within four points. Since returning from a toe injury Week 9, the 23-year-old has posted 2.8 receptions and 17.6 receiving yards per game with one TD over five appearances. Sims' six targets from Monday tie a season high as he heads into a Week 14 matchup against San Francisco.

PowerPoint: On 3-game run, Washington's Rivera eyes humility

Coach Ron Rivera wants to make sure his suddenly surging Washington team gets a good dose of humility coming off its biggest win of the season
DECEMBER 8, 2020 • Associated Press
Posts one catch on Thanksgiving Sims reeled in his lone target for an eight-yard gain during Thursday's 41-16 win over the Cowboys. He added 15 yards on a pair of punt returns.
Impact Sims secured his first touchdown of the 2020 campaign in Week 11 against Cincinnati, but it was a forgettable outing on Thanksgiving for the 23-year-old. He's been back in the lineup for four games after sitting out four contests with a toe injury between Weeks 4 and 7. The Kansas product has accumulated an efficient 10 receptions for 71 yards and a touchdown on 11 targets since his return from IR, as he now sets his sights on a Week 13 matchup against the Steelers' second-ranked pass defense.

Finds end zone Sims caught each of his three targets for 13 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-9 win over Cincinnati.
Impact The touchdown was Sims' first of the season, but he played only 32 percent of offensive snaps, his third straight week below 50 percent since he returned from injured reserve. With Terry McLaurin and Cam Sims working as the starters in recent weeks, the remaining WR snaps have been split between Steven Sims, J.D. McKissic and Isaiah Wright. Things could become even more crowded if Dontrelle Inman (hamstring) makes it back for Thursday's game against Dallas.

Smith rallies Washington after Bengals' Burrow carted off

Top pick Joe Burrow was carted off with a left knee injury before Alex Smith rallied Washington past the Cincinnati Bengals 20-9 to keep his team in the thick of the NFC East race
NOVEMBER 22, 2020 • Associated Press
Five catches in loss to Lions Sims corralled five of six targets for 46 receiving yards during Sunday's 30-27 loss to Detroit.
Impact Sims fumbled on Washington's penultimate drive of the first half, but teammate Cam Sims was able to fall on the loose ball. Week 10 marked Steven's second appearance back from a toe injury that cost him four games, with his impact being much greater Sunday compared to his one-catch, four-yard output in Week 9 against the Giants. Next, Sims will face a Bengals defense that is tied for the third-most receiving touchdowns allowed to opposing wideouts on the season (13).
NOVEMBER 18, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Barely plays on offense Sims caught his lone target for a four-yard gain in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Giants.
Impact After missing four straight games with a toe injury, Sims returned for Week 9 but played only 30 percent of the snaps on offense. He also had one punt return for 12 yards, while Danny Johnson handled the kick returns. It's possible Sims gets more work Week 10 at Detroit, but we haven't seen him in a significant role since mid-September.

NOVEMBER 7, 2020 • RIGGOSRAG.COM
Set to come off IR Sims (toe) will be activated off injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Impact The return of Sims couldn't come at a better time for the Washington passing attack considering Dontrelle Inman (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game, and Isaiah Wright has done little with the increased opportunities. Terry McLaurin still looms large as the team's true No. 1 option, but expect Sims to slot in right away, at least in three wide-receiver sets.
NOVEMBER 7, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Looks ready to play Sims (toe) appears likely to return for Sunday's game against the Giants, as he's been a full practice participant throughout the week, Kyle Stackpole of Washington's official site...
Impact Coach Ron Rivera hasn't commented on the situation, but all other signs point to a return this weekend. Sims was a starter back in Weeks 1 and 2, but he came off the bench for Week 3 and was placed on injured reserve in early October. He could be reinstated to a starting job now that he's healthy, considering Dontrelle Inman (doubtful - hamstring) and Isaiah Wright haven't exactly set the world on fire.
NOVEMBER 6, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Looks good at practice Sims (toe) appeared to be a full participant in Wednesday's practice, Kyle Stackpole of Washington's official site reports.
Impact Sims currently resides on injured reserve, which means the team won't list him on its daily practice reports this week. Based on Stackpole's report though, Sims appears to at least have a shot at playing in Sunday's game against the Giants. Dontrelle Inman and Isaiah Wright (shoulder) got most of the wideout snaps and targets behind Terry McLaurin over the past month while Sims was out, so there is a clear opening for him to reclaim a top-three role.
NOVEMBER 4, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Back at practice Sims (toe) is slated to practice Wednesday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Impact Sims, who hasn't played since Week 3, remains on injured reserve, but now that he's back at practice, Washington will have up to 21 days to activate the wide receiver. Prior to suffering his injury, the 23-year-old recorded six catches (on eight targets) for 103 yards in three games.
NOVEMBER 4, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Poised for some work Wednesday Sims (toe) may do some "running around" Wednesday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Impact It's unclear if Sims will take part in practice, or merely work out on the side, but he is eligible to be activated from IR this week, per Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post. If Sims does practice, Washington will open a 21-day window in which to bring him back to the active roster. He hasn't played since Week 3 due to a toe injury, but when he returns he'll be on the receiving end of passes from Kyle Allen and not Dwayne Haskins.

Steven Sims' Lifelong Breast Cancer Connection Both of Sims grandmothers’ are breast cancer survivors, so he understands the importance of raising awareness about the disease.
OCTOBER 22, 2020 • WASHINGTONFOOTBALL.COM
Lands on injured reserve Washington placed Sims (toe) on injured reserve Friday.
Impact The 23-year-old has been unable to practice since attempting to play through the toe injury Week 3. The move to IR will prevent Sims playing in any of Washington's next three games, making him ineligible to suit up again until at least Nov. 8 against the Giants. While Sims is sidelined, Dontrelle Inman (foot) should continue to work as Washington's No. 2 wideout, with Isaiah Wright the next man up.

OCTOBER 9, 2020 • WASHINGTONFOOTBALL.COM
Still no practice reps Sims (toe) didn't practice Thursday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Impact Meanwhile, fellow wide receivers Terry McLaurin (thigh) and Dontrelle Inman (foot) did what Sims could not: follow up a DNP on Wednesday with a limited session Thursday. Considering Sims hasn't practiced since Week 3, he appears to be in a tough spot ahead of Sunday's game versus the Rams. Friday's injury report may provide some clarity with his situation.
OCTOBER 8, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
DNP on Wednesday Sims (toe) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Impact Washington's top three wide receivers -- also, Terry McLaurin (thigh) and Dontrelle Inman (foot) -- all sat out Wednesday as the team prepares for a change at QB from Dwayne Haskins to Kyle Allen. Sims himself hasn't played since Week 3, so his practice status Thursday and Friday likely will be key to his potential to play Sunday against the Rams.
