He's simply managing his ankle injury, and while Devontae Booker may continue to steal a large chunk of the backfield snaps and touches in a struggling offense, Barkley is also expected to stay involved, barring any setbacks. Week 17 brings a trip to Chicago, where Barkley suffered his ACL tear last September.

Barkley had seen an uptick in production on the ground in recent weeks with tallies of between 55 and 64 rushing yards over the last three games, during which he'd also recorded multiple receptions; therefore, Sunday's numbers represented a notable downturn in all aspects. With defenses having little to fear from the quarterback duo of Mike Glennon and Jake Fromm, Barkley's chances of finding consistent running lanes on the road against the Bears in Week 17 appear bleak.

A new starting quarterback, Jake Fromm, won't necessarily help, but Barkley does at least figure to get a good number of touches, as the Giants have kept both him and Booker fairly busy while unable to push the ball downfield.

Upon his return to the lineup following the team's Week 10 bye, he's earned a snap share ranging between 56 and 86 percent while averaging 16.8 touches for 70.4 yards from scrimmage per game. Barkley only scored one touchdown during that five-game stretch, so assuming he's available Sunday in Philadelphia he'll look to get back in the end zone against an Eagles defense that has allowed the 16th-most TDs (12) to running backs this season.

Impact Barkley has played five straight games since missing the middle part of the season (Weeks 6-10) with an ankle injury, but the Giants have given Devontae Booker a little more work in recent weeks, with Saquon dropping to 55 and 59 percent snap share in the past two contests. Granted, Barkley still managed 31 carries and 11 targets between the two games, with efficiency still the larger issue in a struggling, injury-riddled offense. It isn't likely to get much better this Sunday, facing a solid Eagles defense with either Mike Glennon or Jake Fromm under center for the Giants.

Impact Barkley comfortably paced the Giants' ground attack in carries, but backfield mate Devontae Booker was much more efficient while averaging 9.3 yards per rush. Barkley's reception tally, modest as it was, co-led New York, but he's paying few dividends for fantasy managers relative to draft position, even after the jettisoning of Jason Garrett as offensive coordinator. Barkley has encouragingly averaged logged double-digit carries and recorded multiple receptions in each of the four games Freddie Kitchens has largely taken over playcalling duties, yet he's clocked 4.0 yards per tote or fewer in three of those contests. Barkley's next opportunity to turn around what has been another lackluster season comes in a Week 16 road trip to Philadelphia for a divisional clash against the Eagles.
