INJURIES

Good to go Sunday Griffin (ankle/knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Saints, Randy Lange of the Jets' official site reports.
Impact Though Griffin was listed as questionable for the Week 14 contest, there wasn't much doubt about his status after he practiced fully Friday. Griffin has served as the Jets' clear top tight end since Tyler Kroft (chest) went on injured reserve Nov. 9, but he's typically served as little more than a tertiary option in the passing attack with four or fewer targets over the past four contests. However, Griffin could be in store for a spike in involvement in the offense Sunday, as the Jets recently placed their top two receivers on IR in Corey Davis (core muscle surgery) and Elijah Moore (quadriceps).
DECEMBER 12, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Questionable despite full practice Griffin (knee/ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints, Rich Cimini of ESPN reports.
Impact Griffin's trending in the right direction, as he was able to log a full practice Friday after being limited Thursday and missing practice entirely Wednesday. Barring a setback, the starting tight end should suit up. With Trevon Wesco (ankle) ruled out, Kenny Yeboah is the Jets' only other available option at the position.
DECEMBER 10, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Logs limited session Griffin (ankle) returned to a limited practice Wednesday. Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Griffin missed Wednesday's practice, so his upgrade to limited participation Thursday suggests that he's moving in the right direction in advance of Sunday's game against the Saints. The tight end presumably will have to practice fully Friday in order to avoid a Week 14 injury designation, however.
DECEMBER 9, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Not practicing Wednesday Griffin (ankle) won't practice Wednesday, Ethan B. Greenberg of the Jets' official site reports.
Impact With Trevon Wesco also dealing with an ankle injury, the Jets' current healthy tight end options in advance of the team's Week 14 game against the Saints are Kenny Yeboah and Daniel Brown.
DECEMBER 8, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Injures ankle Sunday Griffin left Sunday's game against the Eagles with an ankle injury, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Prior to his departure from the contest, Griffin caught both of his targets for 15 yards and a TD. Next up for the Jets' TE looks in his absence are Kenny Yeboah and Daniel Brown.
DECEMBER 5, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Three catches as Wilson returns Griffin caught three of four targets for 20 yards in Sunday's 21-14 win over Houston.
Impact Griffin actually ranked second on the team in targets behind Elijah Moore. The one pass he didn't catch was the most important ball thrown Griffin's way, as Zach Wilson extended the play and delivered a well-placed ball to the back of the end zone, where Griffin was unable to come down with a difficult but makeable catch. The veteran tight end plays a consistent but relatively minor role.
NOVEMBER 29, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Three catches in loss Griffin caught three of four targets for 39 yards in Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Dolphins.
Impact Griffin set a season high in receiving yards, which means he's yet to break 40 in a game this season. He's one of fantasy's least exciting starting tight ends and isn't likely to be a popular pickup despite the season-best effort.
NOVEMBER 22, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
One catch in Week 10 loss Griffin caught one of two targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 45-17 loss to Buffalo.
Impact Griffin has caught more than one pass only once in his last seven games. Despite his spot atop the Jets' tight end depth chart, Griffin remains a rarely targeted option, regardless of who New York puts under center.
NOVEMBER 15, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Finds end zone after Kroft injury Griffin caught four of seven targets for 28 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 45-30 loss to Indianapolis.
Impact Griffin took on a larger role after Tyler Kroft (chest) got hurt again, and Griffin capitalized on the extra opportunities. He set season highs in targets, catches and receiving yards while scoring his first touchdown since Week 11 of the 2019 season. Griffin's 13-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter cut New York's deficit to 19 points.
NOVEMBER 5, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
One catch again in Kroft's return Griffin caught his only target for seven yards in Sunday's 34-31 win over the Bengals.
Impact Griffin split time with Tyler Kroft (back), who was back in action for the first time since Week 4. Kroft caught the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter, while Griffin's still searching for his first touchdown of the season and hasn't caught more than one pass in a game since Week 2.
NOVEMBER 1, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
One catch in Week 7 Griffin caught one of two targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 54-13 loss to the Patriots.
Impact In case you needed more proof that Griffin's an afterthought regardless of Tyler Kroft's (back) health, here it is. Griffin has at least one catch in every game this season, but he's yet to eclipse 22 yards in a game or score a touchdown.
OCTOBER 25, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Another start awaits Griffin is expected to serve as the Jets' starting tight end Sunday against the Patriots with Tyler Kroft (back) ruled out for a third straight game.
Impact Griffin played more than 90 percent of the Jets' offensive snaps in the last game Kroft missed Week 5 against the Falcons, but the former drew just two targets in the contest. Another heavy snap count could be in the offing for Griffin on Sunday, but he'll likely remain a low-priority option in the New York passing game.
OCTOBER 22, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
One catch with Kroft out Griffin caught one of two targets for four yards in Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Falcons.
Impact As expected, Tyler Kroft's (back) absence didn't lead to a significant increase in production for Griffin. Regardless of whether Griffin remains atop the Jets' tight end depth chart after the team's Week 6 bye, he'll be an afterthought for fantasy purposes.
OCTOBER 11, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Starting in London Griffin will work as New York's starting tight end Sunday against the Falcons with Tyler Kroft (back) ruled out for the contest, Tyler Greenawalt of USA Today reports.
Impact Griffin and Kroft have split reps over the first four weeks, though neither tight end has played a significant role in the passing game. Kroft didn't make the trip to London with the team, but the Jets will activate rookie tight end Kenny Yeboah from the practice squad to provide a depth option behind Griffin in the matchup with Atlanta.
OCTOBER 8, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
One catch in Week 4 win Griffin caught one of four targets for eight yards in Sunday's 27-24 overtime win over the Titans.
Impact Griffin was more involved than Tyler Kroft, who was held without a catch while playing through a rib injury, but neither tight end made much of an impact. In overtime, Griffin got open for what could have been the game-winning touchdown, but quarterback Zach Wilson's throw in his direction was low, and Griffin failed to secure the catch as a result. The Jets managed to secure the win nonetheless, giving them a much-needed confidence boost heading into a Week 5 clash with the Falcons in London.
OCTOBER 4, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Quiet as Kroft goes down Griffin caught his only target for five yards in Sunday's 26-0 loss to the Broncos.
Impact Griffin once again split reps at tight end with Tyler Kroft until Kroft was forced to exit the game due to a rib injury. While a modest bump in usage could be on the horizon for Griffin if Kroft's forced to miss additional time, New York has just 20 points through three games and hasn't featured the tight end position much in the passing game. Griffin's season stat line heading into a Week 4 game against the Titans consists of just six catches for 37 yards.
SEPTEMBER 27, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Quiet in Week 2 loss Griffin caught both of his targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 25-6 loss to the Patriots.
Impact Griffin was marginally more productive than Tyler Kroft, who caught one of two targets for eight yards. Neither member of the Jets' veteran tight end duo has much fantasy appeal given their minimal involvement in the passing attack.
SEPTEMBER 20, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Six targets in Week 1 Griffin caught three of six targets for 22 yards in Sunday's 19-14 loss to the Panthers.
Impact Griffin and Tyler Kroft (three catches for 26 yards) split tight end duties. Zach Wilson frequently used his tight ends as security blankets as the Panthers' pass rush overwhelmed the Jets' offensive line in the first half, but the rookie quarterback pushed the ball downfield to his wide receivers in the second half once Carolina's defense tired out. Griffin has topped 320 yards just once in eight previous NFL seasons, so he remains off the radar in most fantasy formats.
SEPTEMBER 13, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Re-ups with Jets New York re-signed Griffin on Thursday.
Impact Griffin has spent the last two seasons operating as a reserve tight end for the Jets, and he now looks primed to handle a similar role behind Tyler Kroft. The nine-year veteran had initially been released by New York in the process of cutting down to a 53-man roster.
SEPTEMBER 3, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Released by Jets Griffin (hamstring) was released by the Jets on Tuesday.
Impact Griffin was hampered by a hamstring injury during training camp. His release and the trade of Chris Herndon to the Vikings leaves the Jets' with Tyler Kroft and Trevon Wesco as the No. 1 and No. 2 tight ends. The nine-year veteran joined New York in 2019 and accumulated 43 receptions for 406 yards and five touchdowns during that time.
SEPTEMBER 1, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Dealing with hammy injury Griffin was evaluated for a hamstring injury Monday, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
Impact Any missed time could hurt Griffin's chances to earn regular-season snaps, given that he's competing with both Chris Herndon and Tyler Kroft. None of the bunch is likely to have mainstream fantasy value, especially if they end up splitting snaps.
AUGUST 16, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Sees first-team reps in spring Griffin and Tyler Kroft received reps with the No. 1 offense during mandatory minicamp while Chris Herndon (hamstring) struggled to pick up the offense, Connor Hughes of The Athlet...
Impact Griffin was limited to nine catches for 86 yards in 15 games last season, but the starting role at tight end appears to be wide open entering training camp. Herndon was a full-time starter in 2020 and remains the favorite to top the depth chart again in 2021, but his struggles picking up the playbook are notable with a new coaching staff in place. Griffin could find himself with a larger role this season if he performs well during training camp and the preseason.
JULY 1, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Just nine catches all year Griffin wasn't targeted in Sunday's 28-14 loss to New England. He finishes the season with nine catches for 86 yards.
Impact Griffin scored a career-high five touchdowns while spending much of last season as New York's top tight end, but he failed to find the end zone as the backup to a healthy Chris Herndon this year. With two more years remaining on his contract, Griffin should reprise his depth role with the Jets next season.
JANUARY 4, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Activated from COVID-19 list Griffin was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday.
Impact Griffin missed last week's win over the Browns, but he'll return to the lineup for the season finale against the Patriots. The 30-year-old tight end has averaged 26.1 offensive snaps per game. He currently has career lows in receptions (nine) and receiving yards (86) in a season.
DECEMBER 29, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Hits COVID-19 list The Jets placed Griffin (undisclosed) on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Griffin's placement on the reserve list could mean either that he's been deemed a close contact or that he's tested positive for COVID-19. If the veteran tight end is unable to gain clearance in time for Sunday's game against the Browns, Chris Herndon will stand to see a slight uptick in opportunities.
