Headed to the Steel City Pittsburgh signed Tonyan to a one-year contract Thursday, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.

Impact Coming off the heels of a season in which he suited up for 17 games with Kansas City, Tonyan is now joining his fifth different team in as many years. Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington are returning at tight end for the Steelers, but they released veteran Jonnu Smith back in March, so there's room for Tonyan to potentially snag a spot on the 53-man roster for 2026.

Impact Tonyan signed with the Chiefs' active roster in late August after previously signing to their practice squad. The 31-year-old spent the majority of the season as the No.3 tight end behind Travis Kelce and Noah Gray. Tonyan is set to hit free agency, where he'll likely compete for a depth role once again.

Signed to active roster The Chiefs signed Tonyan from their practice squad to their active roster Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Impact Tonyan first signed with KC in mid-March, and he was released on cutdown day Tuesday before joining the team's practice squad one day later. The veteran tight end has now been made a part of the active roster, where he's set to serve as depth behind Travis Kelce, Noah Gray and Jared Wiley. Tonyan has plenty of experience to bring to the table, having seven seasons of NFL action on his resume.
