Gets released from practice squad
The Giants released McCloud from their practice squad Wednesday, Dan Salomone and Matt Citak of the team's official site report.

Returns to practice squad
McCloud reverted to the Giants' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Impact
McCloud didn't record a target during Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Bears, but his 20 snaps on offense were fourth most among Giants wide receivers behind Wan'Dale Robinson (72), Darius Slayton (45) and Gunner Olszewski (28), while Jalin Hyatt was active but did not play. McCloud is eligible to be elevated to the Giants' active roster once more this season, which could happen as soon as Week 11 against the Packers this Sunday.

Elevated for Week 10
The Giants elevated McCloud from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact
McCloud will be elevated to the Giants' active roster for a second consecutive week and will be available to play Sunday against the Bears. He was elevated for the Giants' Week 9 loss to the 49ers, and although he logged just one catch for five yards, his 52 offensive snaps were second most among wide receivers behind Wan'Dale Robinson (57) and ahead of Darius Slayton (51).

Returns to practice squad
McCloud reverted to the Giants' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Impact
After signing to New York's practice squad Oct. 23, McCloud was elevated for the first time ahead of Sunday's loss to San Francisco. He caught just one pass (on one target) for five yards in the contest but tallied the second-most offensive snaps (52 of 57) among New York's wideouts (Wan'Dale Robinson logged 57 and Darius Slayton tallied 51). None of the Giants' wide receivers aside from Robinson and Slayton had more than one catch (or one target) Sunday, so McCloud could be elevated again for Week 10 despite his quiet performance in his team debut.

Makes one catch in NYG debut
McCloud caught his only target for five yards Sunday in a Week 9 loss to the 49ers.
Impact
McCloud was elevated from the practice squad ahead of the contest and immediately worked as New York's No. 3 wideout. While the veteran out of Clemson logged a healthy offensive snap count, he saw just one target, which he caught for a five-yard gain. Meanwhile, Wan'Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton continued to work as Jaxon Dart's top two WR options, and the rookie QB otherwise threw just twice to other wideouts (once to McCloud and once to Gunner Olszewski). The Giants don't have much in the way of other WR options behind Robinson and Slayton, so it wouldn't be surprising if McCloud is elevated again in Week 10 to face the Bears.

Elevated for Week 9
McCloud was elevated from the Giants' practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Impact
McCloud joined the Giants' practice squad Oct. 23 and is likely to make his team debut in Week 9 against the 49ers. His primary contribution could be as a kick returner, as he's tallied 91 kick-return yards across four games this season.

Officially signs to practice squad
The Giants signed McCloud to the practice squad Thursday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
Impact
McCloud will provide New York with depth at wide receiver after having been cut by the Falcons last Friday. He could also contribute in the return game. While McCloud is technically eligible to be promoted for game action as early as Sunday's divisional matchup against the Eagles, it seems likely that he'll need at least a week or two to acclimate to his new offensive scheme.

Linking with Giants' practice squad
McCloud is in line to sign with New York's practice squad Wednesday, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports
Impact
McCloud was released by the Falcons on Friday, but now he's already found a new home in the NFL with the WR-needy Giants, pending a physical. The 29-year-old boasts ample experience at both wide receiver and as a contributor in the return game, and across 17 regular-season appearances with Atlanta in 2024 he compiled a career-best receiving line with 62 catches, 686 yards and one touchdown on 87 targets. This year, however, McCloud racked up just six grabs for 64 yards across four regular-season appearances, and he had been a healthy scratch for the Falcons' prior two games.

Cut loose by Atlanta
The Falcons released McCloud on Tuesday, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports.
Impact
McCloud's dismissal comes after Atlanta made him a healthy inactive for each of its last two games. Atlanta head coach Raheem Morris initially said that McCloud's inactive status for the team's Week 6 win over Buffalo was a "coach's decision," but the veteran wideout/return man didn't end up practicing at any point in Week 7 after being sent home from team facilities. Morris didn't go into any specifics regarding any potential friction between McCloud and the team, but the 29-year-old will now get the chance to pursue a fresh start elsewhere. Given his ample NFL experience as a depth receiver and on punt and kickoff returns, McCloud shouldn't have much trouble finding an opportunity with another organization, either as a member of the 53-man roster or practice squad.

Healthy scratch again Week 7
McCloud (coach's decision) won't play Sunday against the 49ers, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.
Impact
McCloud will miss a second consecutive game as Atlanta's coaching staff continues to go in a different direction, even with the slot receiver healthy. With Darnell Mooney (hamstring) questionable, Casey Washington, David Sills, KhaDarel Hodge and Jamal Agnew could see additional opportunities while Drake London continues to lead Atlanta's receiving corps.

Deemed inactive against Buffalo
McCloud (coach's decision) is inactive for Monday night's game against the Bills.
Impact
Even with Darnell Mooney (hamstring) ruled out, McCloud will be a healthy inactive against Buffalo. It's pretty surprising considering the Falcons' lack of proven wide receivers behind Drake London, but Atlanta will roll with Casey Washington, David Sills, KhaDarel Hodge and Jamal Agnew behind London versus Buffalo.

Targeted twice in win
McCloud caught one of two targets for minus-7 yards in Sunday's 34-27 win over the Commanders.
Impact
McCloud was a complete nonfactor Sunday while playing 23 of the Falcons' 65 offensive snaps behind fellow wide receivers Drake London (55), Casey Washington (34) and Darnell Mooney (29). The veteran wideout has had a quiet start to the 2025 campaign, totaling six catches on 14 targets for 64 yards through four games. With teammates London, Mooney, Kyle Pitts and Bijan Robinson absorbing so many targets in Atlanta's aerial attack, McCloud faces a difficult path to consistent usage barring injuries. The 28-year-old remains extremely difficult to trust for fantasy purposes as the team heads into its Week 5 bye before hosting the Bills in Week 6.
